The counter has an engraved plate on the front with the letter/number combination of what appears to be C100816- 1. If you enlarge the 3rd photo you will be able to see it better. I sent photos and information to the company but no one is sure when it was made or exactly what it was used for. In fact. They hadn't seen this particular counter. The key is marked"Corbin Cabinent& Lock" and BVR 1. The counter works just fine- it has seen some use. The numbers go up to 999.999 ... moreand can be reset to 000,000 again. The lever changes each individual digit. The key changes them all. The whole piece measures about 8" long including the lever and the key. The box is 2-3/4" long up and down the numbers. Base measures 1.25"x1.5" Height is 1.25" Manually tested to 101 it seems to be working correctly and accurately. Some patina. Age scratching and dings, the case is missing one screw on the lower back, out of four. No cracks in the glass. There's a name written on the bottom in what looks like marker, kind of faint, I think it reads Bower. Stamped serial number? on the back reads 8158642. This is a small item that measures approx. 1 ½” across including the handle on the side and approx. ¾” wide not including the bottom pieces with the holes in and approx. ¾” tall not including the handle. The bottom has a hole on each side so you can screw it to a work bench and the bottom measures approx. 1 3/8” across. One side of the counter reads: THE VEEDER MFG. CO. This company seems to be(or at least WAS back in the day) the top maker of such an item. I believe an item like this was used to count hours a machine was in use rather than how many items were produced. This particular model(form# is# B I20506 I believe. There are numerous numbers on the attached plaque but none actually say“Model# There is a Canadian Patent Date of 1945. Antique Veeder Root 5 Digit Counter Working Industrial Hay Bailer Loom
I’m not sure what this old counter came off of. But from what little I was able to research I’ve been lead to believe that it was a hay bailer or a loom. It’s all metal with a blue paint job. The nameplate and trim are brass. It works fine, keeps in sync, and the reset lever turns all of the wheels simultaneously. It has general wear and tear. But doesn’t appear to have any significant damages. The case measures 3 ½ in. X 2 ½ in. X 2 ½ in. and the wheel that the belt sits on is about 2 ¼ in. in diameter. Please keep in mind that a lot of the things that I sell are old. Vintage and antique items. They're probably not in perfect condition after all these years.
