Which means it has spent most of it's life on a shelf. The CRT is bright and sharp. All the functions work properly. It passes all module calibrations and built-in calibration routines. My re-conditioning includes replacing all the high voltage caps in the power supplies. I check the signal transfer from the RF input to the output of the 3rd Converter and replace any parts that have excessive loss on the RF deck. I check the operational parameters of all the circuit modules and replace any defective components. I disassemble the front panel and replace any defective push button switches and parts on the circuit board. I have two of these units. one is an 8591e stock and has opt 41 the parallel and gpib as well as keyboard interface option and 004 the super stable timebase and of course the tg. Crt is good. the other one is in the same condition but a convert from 8591c to 8591e meaning the 75 ohm connectors were changed w 50 ohm connectors and the power on units were changed back to dbm. so now it functions as an 8591e. That one has opts 4, 41, 101 fast adc, 102 am fm demod/ video sync, and of course the tg and an excellent crt, for the same price the choice is yours. I am a bit flexible with option installations so let me know what you need exactly. since I repair and modify these for a living. IFR FM/AM 1200S Service Monitor w/spectrum analyzer and tracking generator
This is my IFR 1200S service monitor with spectrum analyzer. It has the internal battery. And tracking generator options(options 4 and 12) though only option 12 is shown on the label. The battery pack may have been added later. The software version is 7.0. s/n is 11xxx. It has been on my service bench since I acquired it in 1998. I have never taken it out of the shop. It doesn't look like it has ever spent any time in the field. The physical condition is excellent. I had no problems with this monitor up until a short time ago when it developed an intermittent output problem with the signal generator. The unit was sent to KG Electronics for repair and calibration, and the problem was resolved. It is now fully operational as before, and will provide years of service. Calibration is good until August 2015. The only reason I am selling this ... moreunit is that I have a second service monitor that will fit my needs at this point, as well as a stand-alone spectrum analyzer, so am downsizing. In the photos, I could not capture the scope with the waveform of the received signal, despite numerous attempts. Included with this service monitor is a copy of the operations manual, the IFR soft case, new internal batteries, and power cord. The repair invoice for the recent service is also included. It would be hard to find a cleaner or better cared for service monitor. This has been fully tested with my 26.5 ghz signal generator and works with no issues.it says 22 ghz but actually runs within spec up to 26.5 ghz! warranty will be for exchanges within 30 days! I have thoroughly tested all of the functions and it passes all my freq response.Amplitude accuracy, noise-floor sensitivity,flatness, attenuator, and stability tests flawlessly within spec and is guaranteed to recalibrate with no issues! the waveform even at super high frequencies with low spans, on this unit has excellent shape with no spikes at low spans/ bandwidths. you may be able to find one cheaper on ebay but not one this thoroughly tested or freshly calibrated and realigned with full 16 page data report. chances are that they will not be able to calibrate without repairs. even if they are offering warrant

This unit is a project for someone with some time and access to basic cleaning tools and some familiarity with electronics This unit powers up. Some of the panel lights click, nothing red. Display is VERY clear and clean. In these pics you will see the intensity knob sharp click they were designed to have. However. When it powers up the display shows CALIBRATION ERROR 01, Beeps Once, and the unit is locked up. responds to intensity and other variable resistor functions, but nothing else. We pulled the covers and found a unit that had very very low usage and was a backup. Looking at the ... moreamount of dirt near the power supply internal components, the buttons all have the fit of a new unit, and anybody who has used this type of switch, they wear out. All the time with usage, these are as new. This unit was one of a set for a large regions radio communications test equipment spares. And rarely used and kept in a box. But they did keep up factory cal for quite a long time. As for age, there is some confusion with HP serial numbers, there is still and exceptions, 3585A always prefix the same, oddly enough so do most of the 355D attenuators, although with different prefixs. As such. And it being from a desert environment, Tucson, there is a lot of dust, very fine sand, and it is everywhere Our resources are limited to testing anything on this unit. Please keep in mind this will need to be completely cleaned, all the boards pulled, connectors cleaned, chemically preferred. And then it may still have a problem, Good thing about that is there is a incredible supply of parts, components, schematics, knowhow, THIS IS A VERY HEAVY UNIT. FREIGHT CHARGES WILL BE SUBSTANTIAL!
