Very rare antique treadle powered letterpress. Manufactured by George W. Prouty in Boston between 1878 and 1926. The press operates smoothly but since the rollers(pictured) are badly decomposed I have not been able to pull any proofs. The roller cores. However, can be recovered. The press looks to be a 5"7" it is smaller than the usual 8"10" Chandler Price) The press comes with one chase. The roller cores& appropriate roller trucks(see picture) There is one weld on the treadle. The weld is over 30 years old. Local pick-up only. Zip code 48033, Southfield, MI. Press has been cleaned and oiled/lubed and functions as it should. Moves smoothly and ink table spins with each movement. This beautiful Press wears it's original Battleship Grey paint which shows some chipping and wear as is expected with items of this vintage. Press is complete as pictured and will need rollers. Offered in this auction is a Kelsey& co 6x10 model E Excelsior table top letterpress printing press. In great condition. No dents or cracks. Free from rust. many, many extras. 23 full trays of letters, sorted, not mixed. Rubber rollers are used with dried ink on them. Pivot points are free moving. Very hard to find these in this condition and with all the bells and whistles. The original cabinet cannot fit all the letter trays! All sorts of pieces, and extras in very old cigar boxes is how they were stored. It was stored in gentlemans attic for years. All sorts of printing manuals also included. The press weighs 85 lbs. Sigwalt Chicago#11 letterpress. This is a wonderful Sigwalt Chicago tabletop letterpress. Believe this is the#11 press as it does hold two rollers. The press is black with gold accent paint and retains most of the decal decoration on one side. But only a portion on the other side. This press measures approximately 17' long with handle down, 14' with handle up, 6-1/2' wide and weighs about 12.4 lbs. It is in very good working condition with smooth action but does not come with a chase, type or rollers. The paint is in good condition with some paint loss and normal wear. Ca. 1835 Washington Hand Press R. Hoe & Co. NY - Ex Tuttle Press Rutland VT
Circa 1835 No. 6 Washington Hand Press/ Printing Press This is press serial number 2190 and according to press historian Bob Oldham was made around 1835. Platen is approx. 26" x 41" Press was for decades displayed in front of the Charles E. Tuttle Used Book Store in Rutland Vermont. The Tuttle family were printers in Rutland. Vermont going back to when this press was new, not sure if this is a press used by the Tuttle's in the 19th Century or was acquired by them along the way. Having grown up in Vermont and knowing thrifty Yankee's the press is likely one that was in the Tuttle printing company, but I have not yet documented the history. I do remember the press when I was a kid and use to shop at the bookshop. The press was removed from the shop years ago when the bookstore closed and the building was sold. Press is missing ... morethe standard and toggle. It appears to have been missing from the press for decades since it was not on the press in the old photos that I have seen of the press in front of the bookshop. One of the photos of the bookshop I found on line is above with the photos of the press. Since the press was outside for decades, the platen and bed are heavily rusted, one of the rounce strap clamps is broken, etc. Bedrails are in good condition, Frame and legs are in good condition. RARE ANTIQUE ADAMS COTTAGE PRINTING PRESS
The Adams Cottage Press is in very good condition as shown by the photographs. Very few seem to be in existence today. Historians believe it was this type of press that was transported during the Civil War to use in the field for printing. It was lightweight and easy to use for its time. The date of the press is clearly noted on the photo- Patented March 19. 1861. The history of this exact press is not known. A press similar to this one is believed to have been used at Appomattox Courthouse during the surrender of Lee's Army to the Union to print parole forms for the Southern Troops. Size of the press is approximately 25" long, 14" wide, and 5" deep and weighs approximately 85 pounds with the wood base attached. Also shown is information about the press from the 1860's.

Seems to work good as you can see in the last picture, but would probably need a good cleaning and lubricating to actualiy use. This is a printing press built between 1873 and 1909. It is in good shape for it's age. It has the split ink disk which operates the way it is supposed to. There is a very old welded repair on the frame that doesn't seem to affect the operation. There is a set of three new composition rollers and two chases. Please email me any questions. 8x5 Kelsey Excelsior model U and supplies A late model of the Kelsey Co. letterpress Found in good condition. Disassembled, cleaned, painted, tested. everything moves and adjusts easily. No brakes or welds I would recommend bolting to a board or table for long runs. other then some ink staining- disk and other flat surfaces are in great shape. Paint color is called dark metal metallic with some parts painted black. Comes with a lot of stuff; see photos. New rubber rollers with locked trucks. New Box car base. One chase. Has a counter mounted to press. A lot of different press packing. Long and sort fingers[grippers] normally removed for box car base and use foam gauge pins some included. new gripper spring. Short fingers are new also. There is a set of mixing ink. 10 colors and white if I remember. I prefer not to open to look it is double ... morerapped for ground shipment only, may have to be removed for air shipment. In any case there is no guarantee on ink making it ok only press. It is well packaged and ready to go. There will be some shipping insurance on it normally it only pays if they loose it not damage. I do ship presses all over the world and have not lost or broke one so far. Fed-ex and UPS are easy to deal with. Shipping is for cost final weight and insurance is done in person dropping it off. This listing is for a 10 x 15 Chandler& Price Letterpress(C&P) with a manufacture date of 1911. It is a great press( piece of history) but we can’t keep it as we just don’t have the space. More pictures can be seen here… This press comes complete with 2 Chases and brand new Rollers& Trucks that were used once just to pull a test print. It has a working Kimble motor that can be wired for either 110v or 220v. The press currently sits on a pallet ready for loading at ground level. We can secure a forklift but buyer responsible for cost. Using our Come-Along& Pallet Jack would be an alternate option for those with a tilting trailer.

Matching pair or rollers for a letterpress printing press. These type of press would have been used to print form metal or wood type. I had these laying around in a box. I don't remember what they came off. Probably a Kelsey of some sort but not sure? Possible a 3x5 Kelsey? Check the measurements on your press and buy them for what you think you can use them for. Rubber is shot and needs to be recast so the value here is in the trucks and core rods. The third scan shows them next to a ruler for measurement. They are 8 1/2" long. I have a PAIR of Chandler and Price Letterpresses OVER 100 years old EACH! These were both working presses just about 3 years ago and we saved them from being sold for scrap. We just couldn't see these being lost forever so we bought them to hopefull find them a home to appreciate them! I have offered NUMEROUS PICTURES so someone could get a sense of what all is offered. It has been previously used was tested and works well. It is one of its older models. It is a hand operated platen letterpress. It has two rollers that only lack the spun rubber that goes on them that allows you to print on the machine. Cosmetically the machine is in good working condition for its age. We cleaned it up as best we could on its metal/steel parts. Heavy duty and well built. Finding out more information on the machine simply requires utilizing the internet. Weighs almost 70 pounds before packing. The rubber rollers that need to be recovered for the press can be found online as well.
