You will never need these, but if you have a bad jam, the cylinder impression may become uneven. You can fix this fairly easily by loosening the two large mounting bolts on the side you wish to adjust and sliding the shims down and re-tightening the bolts. That is why the shims are in a"C" shape: they slide down each side of the mounting bolt. There are 5 thick(about 1 point) and 7 thin(about 1/2 point, comparable to 12# paper) ones. They are used, stained, and some are a little bent, but all are usable and in good condition. I am pricing them a little high so one person will think twice about just buying them all up, leaving them available for more people. TELL ME WHICH SHIMS YOU WANT. If you do not specify. I will send you matched pairs of thick and thin until I run out. Remember, I have 5 thick and 7 thin ones. If you are correcting impression from a bad jam. You will probably only need one thick and two thin shims at the maximum, and possibly just one or two thin ones. If you have had a catastrophic jam on one side of the press, you may need 2- 4 thick AND 2- 4 thin ones to readjust it. To check your impression, the easiest way is to remove packing from under your best die cutting jacket so the sheet is barely, or not at all, perforating using brand new perforating rule. The rack is in great shape except for a few dents on the corners of some teeth I caused when removing it. Otherwise, the teeth look and feel new. Chalk up one for compulsive oiling. Keep in mind that the impression cylinder AND the cylinder frame have to be removed from the front to install this part. A few smaller assemblies also have to be removed to get to the 4 huge cylinder bolts. Which require a 15/16" hex key. The cylinder weighs a LOT less than I thought it would. I estimate it at only about 100 pounds, which can be handled by one strong guy(me) or two normal strength guys. The rack cannot be removed from the back, but ALL the installation screws and bolts that hold it in are only accessible from the back. As one of them was misnumbered by the factory, and one doesn't appear to be in the parts book. These parts all came off of the impression cylinder when I removed it. These parts are from the left side of the cylinder. The part#22051(not listed in book) can be seen on page 10 of the parts book, but no attribution is there. I would call it a left cylinder mounting bracket as it is the one that the two large mounting bolts go through to hold the left side of the cylinder in place. The part misnumbered by hand at the factory as#23853" as shown in the photo) is listed in the parts book as#23859, Ratchet Pawl Lock Collar. The three springs are#22265, Thrust Collar Springs. The other collar I can't easily find in the parts book, but it goes with these other parts. When the cylinder is removed, these parts just slide off the side. Part#22680 and the Control Valve Rod Assembly, parts#22476, 22475, 22477, TP-108, TP-100. This is the long steel shaft that most of the parts in the first VA parts page are mounted on, and the long control rod assembly that goes inside the bushing. They are in very good condition, with some superficial scratches and rust on exposed areas, but the very good condition is the product of lots of oiling. If you are looking for a very nice thick steel pipe to carry around in your car or truck for self defense(and you can claim to law enforcement that you are just transporting a press part) this is the one, but you need some upper body strength to wield it with dexterity. This is the Cylinder Gear(part#22152) Right Cylinder Mounting Bracket(my name for it, as it doesn't seem to be in the parts book) part#20152) and the Cylinder Stop Disc Assembly(part#23154A and most associated parts) The Gear has one chip on one tooth which can be seen in photo#3 as a bright flash. The stop disc had to be heated and hammered on the side to get it off. You will probably have to sweat it on. That is why there are hammer marks on the side of the disc, but it is only cosmetic and does not affect the operation. I will try to find the huge taper pin and two mounting bolts that go with these parts and include them later. All parts here are in good to very good condition. Let me know if you have any specific part you want me to list, and I'll endeavor to list it ASAP. The pieces for this sale are the Left Feeder Shaft Bracket Assembly. Most of the parts are four#H-43495 mounting bolts. 22076, 21632, 22856, 22857, 22858, DP-114, DP-118, DP-123, DP-105, and possibly other parts. The press was completely refurbished around 1980 and was used pretty much continuously for the next 15 years, when I got the KSBA. The vertical was then used only sporadically until about 2003. After 2003, it was used virtually never, maybe 2- 5 jobs a year. There is some grease. Oil, and dried ink on the assembly, but I cleaned it enough for you to see what good condition it is in. All the parts have no breaks or cracks. Any rust or scratches usually don't go below the paint. I will always point out any significant issues with each part. If I have listed a part, it is because I believe you can use it. If you want to see any other view, let me know and I will endeavor to post it asap. I usually ship UPS for heavy cartons. But I look at other ways to get the lowest cost. Shipping weight will be about 15 pounds. I will greatly reduce shipping costs for multiple purchases. These pulleys are from a nearby printer that went out of business and forgot to give these to the buyer of his two verticals. This is a 4-1/16" outer diameter. 1-7/8" spline size(the spline is the locking shaft the pulley slides on to) speed pulley for a Miehle V-50 Vertical. As it was originally 4-1/8" it is obviously very used. If you wish to combine shipping with multiple pulleys, email me and I will give you an estimate of shipping your combined lot. Antique Miehle Brass Trademark Sign
This old sign comes from the side of a scrapped MIEHLE Printing Press. A beast in its time. Roughly the size of a one car garage. It worked for many years printing the paper of small town New Carlisle, Oh. This small sign was scavenged as a memory of times gone by and would make a great wall hanging for those who collect or even still print in this time honored way. You may have noticed my other Miehle V-50 Vertical press parts sales. I have a Heidelberg KSBA. And it works a LOT better than the vertical. I even have some tricks to let me get closer to the gripper with a numbering machine, perf, and score, so I am disassembling the V-50 and selling it part by part. Let me know if you have any specific part you want me to list, and I'll endeavor to list it ASAP. This sale is for 4 Card Feed Cylinder Grippers. Each one consisting of parts 22922, 22227, 23311, 21864, The Gripper, Pin, Spring, and Collar. One gripper goes in the center and has holes for the vacuum shut off and the other three go anywhere else on the cylinder gripper bar. These grippers were barely used, and never used in the last 19 years. The press was completely refurbished around 1980 and was used pretty much continuously for the next ... more15 years, when I got the KSBA. The vertical was then used only sporadically until about 2003. After 2003, it was used virtually never, maybe 2- 5 jobs a year. All my parts are unbroken and uncracked.
