4 Letterpress Printing CHASES Chandler& Price C&P Type-Frames 8"x12" 9x13 Up for auction are four letterpress printing chases for type. They are all made of cast-iron. Two of the frames bear the name"Chandler& Price" Along with the number 828 1/2, hash marks on the borders. The third frame bears the same number but does not have the manufacturers name. Instead it bears a Roman numeral, otherwise it is nearly identical. All three have rounded interior corners for lifting the type. All three are 3/4" deep, and have an interior dimesion of 8"x12" exterior dimension is 10 1/4"x 13 3/4" The fourth frame is slightly different, without any markings and an interior size of 9"x13" Condition is Very Good/ VG: apart from some mild surface rust the only damage to speak of is a cracked ... moreupper-right corner to one of the C&P frames. It's a hairline crack but goes clear through& should be mended. The other frames are sound& there are no other serious defects. The press is black with gold accent paint and retains most of the decal decoration on one side. But only a portion on the other side. This press measures approximately 17' long with handle down, 14' with handle up, 6-1/2' wide and weighs about 12.4 lbs. It is in very good working condition with smooth action. 1923 C&P 10x15 Platen letterpress
I have for sale a C&P platen dated 1923. It is complete with a friction clutch speed control. Original leather drive belt. There is a new 110V motor to go with the press. Works perfectly! It has a full ink fountain and all 3 rollers(great condition) and 2 chases. The drive shaft has a U so if a foot peddle was desired it could be easily added. Amazing condition! 1890 Golding Pearl No. 3 Letterpress Printing Press
1890 Golding Pearl No. 3(7x11) Serial no. 2379 for sale. Fully restored, with new cabinet drawers and Ramco rollers that have only been used only once for a test print. It comes with one chase, size 7inches x 11inches. The press is in good working order and makes a nice print. These are great machines that are a pleasure to run. All that is needed is some ink, paper, and type and this is ready to print. There was one small repair made by a machinist on the treadle(foot pedal) as seen in the pictures above. There are also three welds. One in the treadle, one in the gear arm, and one in the piece that holds the ink disk. These weld are all minor welds and do not effect the printing. Chandler Price 10x15 N Series Letterpress Printing Press These were very late model Chandler Price presses redesigned to reduce pinch points. Some of the last presses they made. This one was in a High School graphics arts shop which closed and has seen little use. Rollers are clean in good condition. There is a small weld to the apparatus that supports the ink disk. Looks like a preventative weld where a crack may have been starting. Crating is included in this auction. I can arrange shipping to your location. I have shipped a number of these presses around the country and west coast deliveries are around $500 and east coast would be less.
