Ms. Tree was the best-known comic book creation of author Max Allan Collins prior to his graphic novel. Road to Perdition. Terry Beatty was the series' artist. The title character is Michael Tree. A female private detective who takes over her husband's investigation business when he is murdered. In her first case, she captures the murderer and discovers his link to the Muerta organized crime family. Ms. Tree's dead husband was named Michael Tree. The joke being that after the marriage they had the same name. Series creator/writer Max Allan Collins makes no secret of the fact that Ms. Tree was inspired by Velda, Mike Hammer's secretary, a stacked, gun carrying, six-foot tall brunette and Mike's ... morelover, who was almost as tough as he was. The basic premise of Ms. Tree was, What if Velda and Mike Hammer eventually got married, and on their honeymoon he was murdered? Throughout the series. Sep 14 1933" stamped on it. The words above that stamp are probably"Press Ticket Dep" Most likely given to someone who showed a press credential at the 1933 World's Fair. They were probably given this complimentary ticket with a date stamp good for the date of their visit. They would have surrendered this ticket when they went on the ride. The ticket is in good condition- it has light dirt/toning on it. Antique 19th Century American Two-Part Mahogany Linen Press Painted Interior
Wonderful antique mid 19th century Empire linen press. This piece is large and impressive; veneer in a rich matching mahogany. The upper interior is painted in a putty grey. While the bottom was left natural. This press is in two pieces for easier handling. The overall look and style is understated, clean and rather simple for such a grand piece of furniture. The top of the piece has a slight arched molded top that comes together at a small point. As you can see in the photos this piece does have some scattered chipping and veneer loss. There is some missing at the front foot and some on the right side of the piece. There are some pieces of this veneer that are still with the piece but need to be reattached. Also at about the half way mark is a simple flat molding(close up in photo#5) and the left side needs to be secured better. There is ... morealso two square pieces of veneer in the front on the same line that is missing. That being said- the upper section is in better condition and it really wouldn't take much to get this piece back to its original beauty. It stands at an impressive 94" tall, 46" wide and 17" deep. I scanned the right credits for your information here; the original photos have different credits(always the next photo in the collection… wow. Complicated! on the reverse.
