I have for sale a rare Pioneer Stereo Tunner Control CX-770S& Stereo Power Amplifier M-980 Made in Japan. I am selling this stereo AS IS for repair or for parts. I tested out prior to listing and the control tunner display intermittently has a problem; a ribbon cable may be causing the problem; in the stereo tunner control. I tested out with a pair of JBL speakers and was able receive a broadcast station with good stereo sound out of the speakers. This problem might have something to do with being stored for a long period of time; the stereo worked very well prior to storing. The cosmetic condition is very nice and clean definately worth repairing. I thought I woud list it and hopefully a Stereo expert would take on the challenge and repair the problem.I have not opened the components to determine the problem. Again. I have g iven this a mini service to include cleaning pots and switches as well as valve bases and checking joints etc. I have also lubricated the volume control and base and treble controls. After this was done it was left on test for 4 hours and performed faultlessly. Valves included are 4 X Mullard EF86's as well as 2 pin bulgin type plug and umbilical chord to connect to your stereo 20 etc. Will also work with Leak TL10 and TL12 + as well as Leak TL25. Stereo 50 and Stereo 60. The pre amplifier will not work with any other amplifier as it picks it s power up from the Leak power amplifiers. So please dont buy this if you dont have any of the amplifiers listed above. There are some marks as can be seen in ... morethe many pictures below. But most of these are on the lid and considering its over 50 years old, condition is actually very good. It is always advisable to replace any out of spec capacitors resistors etc. But this I will leave up to the winning bidder should they wish to do so. If being used permanently in a system as with any piece of vintage valve hifi equipment I would advise a full rebuild to replace all out of spec components, but it did work perfectly and sounded very nice indeed. The unit was serviced with all the bias points checked and adjusted to within manufacturer's specifications. And burned-in for over 6 hours to ensure long term stable operations.
