The Hoffmann MU-C bench-top routing machine is equipped with a high speed router motor. Located at the center of the machine. The supplied 45 degree fence plate, which is guided in a keyway in the machine table, is used to accurately position the material on the table. The location of the dovetail slots for the Hoffmann Keys is adjusted by simply ... moremoving this fence plate. Once set, the plate is locked in place and the routing sequence can begin. The routing operation is started by pulling the main lever. A hold down plate will be lowered onto the workpiece. Pressing it on the table and holding it in place. Further pulling will lift the motor carriage up until the preset cutting height is reached. The motor is switched on automatically by pulling the lever. It is switched off again when the lever is returned to the home position. Two springs in the lever mechanism counteract the pull down force. Starrett Improved Extension Dividers No.85 Compass
Your bidding on a Starrett No. 85 Dividers. One of the steel legs is missing. Replaced with a pencil, to make it a compass. There is an O stamped on both sides as seen in photos. This will be the last compass of this size you'll ever buy. It's made to last. The early ones have the wing nut to lock it open, like this one. As far as I can tell they started making them with a knob, instead of a wing nut, in the early 20's.
