I am offering for sale a very early industrial thread counter used in the textile mill industries of the North east. The device is approximately 3 7/8 inches wide by 3 and 5/8 inches deep and is in exceptional condition for its age. It was made by Chronik Bros. and sold exclusively by Chas Lowinson of New York City. It has a patent date of October 20. 08 and Sept 20, 10. It also has the original box it came in with a purple velvet lining and ribbon. The box looks like an imitation shark skin material that has a little loss on some of the corners and some scratches on the top. The metal closing mechanism works fine. Antique Veeder Root 5 Digit Counter Working Industrial Hay Bailer Loom
I’m not sure what this old counter came off of. But from what little I was able to research I’ve been lead to believe that it was a hay bailer or a loom. It’s all metal with a blue paint job. The nameplate and trim are brass. It works fine, keeps in sync, and the reset lever turns all of the wheels simultaneously. It has general wear and tear. But doesn’t appear to have any significant damages. The case measures 3 ½ in. X 2 ½ in. X 2 ½ in. and the wheel that the belt sits on is about 2 ¼ in. in diameter. I was not able to test its accuracy, as I don't have tools to do it. It comes with a tag(maybe calibration info) and it seems to have 2 red paint marks, which usually is applied when some sort of warrantied repair was made? I am not sure.
