This item would be an excellent choice for anyone with a small number of critical samples requiring cold storage, and little space to put a freezer. This is a very small unit(3.0 cubic feet/ 86 litres) and can be set to as low as minus 86 Celsius. According to the manufacturer. It will hold its lowest temperatures even in ambient surrounding temperatures as high as 35 Celsius, which may be a useful feature if your building's air conditioning fails. The unit can be fitted with an external alarm and/or liquid carbon dioxide or liquid nitrogen backup system. And has its own internal(beeping) alarm also. It also comes with wheels and is light enough to be moved around easily by one person. Other major pluses. In my opinion, is that the unit uses CFC-free refrigerants and runs ... moreon regular North American wall voltage(115 volts or thereabouts) Most larger ultralow freezers will require 220-240 volts, which is of course no problem for those in many other countries but requires two-phase wiring in North America.
