This scale weighs down to a gram!and up to 20 kilograms! Has a nice smooth turn-knob tare dial under the plate. This is more of a fine-tuning tare. And the rough tare adjustment appears to be in the center beam with a locking wing nut on it. The scale works very smoothly. It shows obvious signs of wear. Here's a vintage Soehnle counter top beam balance scale. I came across this in a garage cupboard at a recent estate sale. It appears to be complete. And does work, but there's some rust on the slider bars, so the sliders don't move as smoothly as they should. A little detailed steel wool cleaning and lube should be all it needs. There's also some minor rust specks on the chrome pieces at each end. The white metal case shows some minor scratches. The plastic tray looks good, but is a bit dirt stained. The inside guts show a little dust, but look good. I checked it for accuracy with a couple different size hand weights, and it seems to be accurate, but I can't guarantee it's perfectly accurate, and it's stamped"not legal for trade" It has a 23lb. capacity. Product Description Sartorius mechanical balance type 2254 This balance has a max capacity of 1000g. There's a knob on one side for setting hundreds of grams. A backlit display in the middle, and a knob on the other side for setting tenths and hundredths of grams. There's also a tare knob and a smaller knob of unknown function. The hundreds adjustment knob's plastic cover is cracked and the knob is loose as a result, but it's still somewhat usable and in any event looks like it could be easily replaced. The unit takes 110V wall current from a standard power cord but a power cord is not included. The shipping lock has been engaged. How the unit was tested: When the unit was first plugged in it lit up and appeared functional. But within a few seconds the light went out again. The bulb doesn't appear to be burned out so it's ... morenot clear why. This is a vintage OHAUS Triple Beam Balance Scale made in the USA by the OHAUS Scale Corporation of Union. New Jersey. It is fully functional and in very good condition. It was used by a modelmaker and has never been abused or exposed to a harsh shop or manufacturing environment. The original OHAUS cover is included and is in very good condition with no damage or markings.
