This assembly includes 3 ball bearing linear slides at right angles. Each with a BEI Kimco voicecoil positioner and a Numerik Jena linear optical encoder. The length of travel is approx 0.8 cm in each axis. The payload is a short focal length coated achromat lens assembly surrounded by a LED-illuminated lucite ring aligned with a hole behind it in the mounting plate. The positioners and encoders are wired to a 37 pin D connector. It may have been used in a cell counter or IC or fiber optic alignment system, or something similar, but no manufacturer or model number is present.
