The body of the tray is superbly chased with fine shell motifs and swirling leaves with lattice decoration. The centre of the tray has a vacant cartouche surrounded by sprays of leaves. The tray stands on four scroll feet. The tray is 7-1/2 inches/ 191 mm wide and it stands 1 inch/ 25 mm high. Made of very thick gauge silver. It weighs 353 grams. The underside of the tray has clear hallmarks- lion passant. London mark, letter S for 1753 and maker's mark EW below the Prince of Wales feathers for Edward Wakelin. The tray is in excellent condition with no dents. Damage or repair. It is crisp and without wear and the hallmarks are clear and crisp also. Old Sheffield Plate Salver/ Waiter with Gadrooned Border& Shell Feet C.1830 This is an early nineteenth century old Sheffield plate waiter with a gadrooned border and three shell feet. It is very pretty. This is an unusual piece of old sheffield plate as the main part is made of nickel silver rather than copper. And it is tinned on the underside rather than silver plated. the feet though are the usual thin silver pressing on a lead core backed by copper. I'd date it from the design of the feet to between about 1810 and 1830. Size: about 8 1/2 inches across( 22.5 cm) x 3/4 inch high( 2 cm) Weight: 424 grammes Condition: as stated the plating is very worn- but would look great with a bit of TLC and Nushine. Large Silverplate Waiter or Butler Tray “Henley OCL Oneida Community” Scrolls
We are selling a large and heavy silverplated two-handled butler’s-style serving tray with ornate handles and trim. This tray measures about 24 1/2 inches from handle to handle. The body itself measures about 20 inches long x about 15 inches wide x about 3/4 inch high. It weighs about 6 pounds and 14 ounces. On The Front: Except for the center of the tray. The flat part features beautiful floral, basket weave, and scrolled designs chased(engraved) into the metal. The center is clear of design. And could be used for the engraving of initials(it has not been engraved) The handles and border of the tray are also fancy and scalloped with a raised floral and scroll decoration. On The Back: The back of the tray is not engraved; it is smooth with an almost brushed finish. It is stamped“Henley OCL Oneida Community Ltd. The“ Henley” part is in script. ... moreAnd each of the letters“OCL” are inside individual box borders. Condition: This tray is lovely and is well made; we call it very good used condition. It has a few minor scratches and it has overall tarnish with some darker spots. But we see no wear through points in the silverplate. We did use a sunshine cloth to clean off a bit of the tarnish on the front and sides so the pattern could be seen well in the photos. We did not attempt to polish it further; we will leave that to the next owner. Please see the photos which augment our description. From my late mothers estate a Mahogany 3 tier dumb waiter believed to be George 111.It is in good condition with some very minor repairs.Scratches and marks commensurate with age and use. Size is large tier 21.5in.medium tier 16.5in and small tier 13in.The whole piece is approx 41.5in high.It dismantles into 5 pieces with the original wooden screw threads. It is a beautiful piece of furniture and viewing is most welcome.
