It measures close to 15"s tall and about 7lbs! It is heavy& Gorgeous! The hallmark is the hallmark for Simpson Hall Miller& Co. Established in 1866 in Wallingford CT. Organized in 1866 by Samuel Simpson. Became part of International Silver Co. in 1898. So its safe to say it is c.1880s. Beautiful design detail all over! On side looks like the center of the detail design was left for a family crest or monogram and it was never used. The handle is strong! I love the lion head design on the handle! Beautiful spout has a door on the inside that pushes open when pouring. It does have one ding on the left side near the bottom of the handle. Exquisitely detailed server. 8-3/8" overall height. Weight 130 grams. Top is a windmill with 4 freely rotating blades, that are1-3/8" across and sit on top of a 1-7/8"H windmill building, supported by 2 cherubs on either side of a central vase. Below that is a medallion with a face and a male and female winged figure on either side, each holding a dish with flames. The spoon body is 3"W x 5-1/2"H and shows a large central shield with a stork in the center and a cornucopia on either side. Beneath the shield are garlands over a lateral banner with the words: s. The dimensions are 42" long X 18" deep X 36 1/2" to the top with the back piece adding another 2" for a total of 38 1/2" All the joints are tight and it is in good condition overall! This listing is for an antique small cake or pastry server. It is Hallmarked on the back of the handle at the top. It reads 897 with what looks like an AA after it. I decipher the 897 as the year it was produced. Meaning 1897. Underneath the 897, it reads 800 in an oval which identifies it as being made of.800 Silver. To the right of that, there is an inverted triangle with the letters G M with the letter X underneath those two letters inside the inverted triable. I take that to be the maker's mark. I do not know, however, if the maker is" GMX" or" GXM" depending upon the order in which those letters are read. The horizontal stroke of the G continues diagonally downward to form half of that letter X. This server is used/pre-owned. Please read the Condition section for further details on how it grades. This item measures ... more1 and 1/4 inches high when resting on a flat surface as the handle slants upward. The bottom of the server is 2 and 1/2 inches wide. It is 6 and 3/8 inches long. When new, the bouillon spoons were offered as a premium for Rex's Beef Extract. One could send labels and get free bouillon spoons. For this reason, many collectors start off with bouillon spoons and build up their sets. Hanover is a lush Art Nouveau design. The round pierced server began life in the 1880s as the tomato server. At this time, hothouses that could produce tomatos year round were beginning to appear. The method of serving tomatos depends on the way they are cut. The traditional style ... moreis to slice them horizontally, resulting in a series of thin circles of tomato. These slices are then put on a plate and passed around. To move the tomato slices one uses a round bladed server with holes for draining off juice and seeds. These tomato servers are extremely useful things, the perfect way to get round sloppy food onto people's plates. They work for dishes as diverse as croquettes, chicken salad, stuffed peppers and of course, tomatos. The round pierced tomato server offered here measures about 7 3/4. This is not a piece of new silver. It shows the patina of as much as 110 years of careful use. There are the light scratches which constitute normal patina. There is no monogram. It is very ornately decorated on the handle and blade in the“Vintage” grape pattern from Rogers Brothers. Measures 9-1/2” long. On the back of the handle it is marked“1847 ROGERS BROS A1” The Vintage pattern dates to 1904 and was made in the US. This piece is not monogrammed. It does have a couple dings on it, but other than showing normal signs of wear and tarnishing, it is in overall good condition. The item is porcelain-lined. The lid of the item needs to be re-attached[if preferred] and the top rim appears to be a little uneven which is likely from the natural wear of the item. The item is covered in wonderful embellishments that appear to be flower themed. It is a relatively heavy piece that is over a foot tall.
