Do use wood and other mediums. Here the finished original clay is now complete. The sculptor will take it to the foundry now, get a bid then begin the first stages of the lost wax process. The first step can be shocking for some as they begin to decide how this original will be cut up. In order to prepare the original clay sculpture for molding. It will be dissected by cutting the clay with wire and by cutting the armature with a saw. The armature is what helped support the clay in place while the artist was creating it. Note the registration marks which later in the process will serve to realign the parts. Shown here are the sections of the original clay sculpture after having been dissected. Now the various parts of the original are carefully mounted on clay plugs before the rubber mold material is applied. The clay plug later serves as a pour spout for the mold. As you can see now they begin painting the latex rubber onto the original together with the clay plus that's been added in layers. Up for your consideration is this used 1953 Haddon"Home Sweet Home" Model 30 motion clock. This clock is an estate sale find. I plugged this clock in for several days and it does keep time. Granny rocks back and forth and the light functions. Besides a light dusting this clock will need a good cleaning. It has dust in-between the shingles and lots of dust on the inside. The ceramic cabin looks to be in good shape. The back plate is missing screws and looks to have incorrect screws. Grandmas window has a blemish mark. Marked on the back plate is May 8 1953. This edition(Vol. XI No. 4 March 1894) was found. Along with many others, in the barn of a Victorian house that my parents bought years ago in Berkshire County, Massachusetts. I've chosen to list this edition first because of its literary significance to historians and students of New England history, Nathaniel Hawthorne's works in particular. The two-page lead article(pictured) is"My Father's Literary Methods" by Hawthorne's second daughter, Rose Hawthorne Lathrop, born in Lenox, Mass. in 1851. Her contribution in this publication is lengthy, well illustrated and full of fascinating details. I've also included an image of the back cover as another example of the extraordinary content to be found in the 37 pages of this edition. Antique NEW HOME Treadle Sewing Machine Head & Accesories Serial #4044240 1922
This Antique NEW HOME Treadle Sewing Machine has been gently restored. All the working parts move very easily and smoothly. The major external parts were disassembled to clean. None of the internal parts where removed but was reachable was cleaned. From experience and examining the external apperance this machine should be in fine working condition. The accesories were wiped cleaned then treated with mineral oil. What does gently restored mean? The overall objective is to preserve as much as the old tool or item with its lifetime patina as possible without the use of power tools. Metal is typically initially cleaned using mineral oil. Or a weak solution of washing soda and water and if necessary brief electrolysis to remove and or convert rust to black oxide. Whichever method is best, a scotch brite plastic cleaning pad is used with water ... moreso the underlying metal is not damaged. A heat gun is immediately used to blow dry and eliminate moisture which is followed by a hand rubbed coat of mineral oil. After letting the oil“soak in” for a day or so, the item is wiped cleaned then hand rub in bees wax to seal it. A weak solution of oil soap and water is used to remove grime, old oils and dirt from wood which is air or blowed dry with a heat gun. This is followed by a hand rub of“feed and wax" If the situation requires it, a soft brass bristle brush or“0000” steel wool is used occasionally. A couple of items should be noted. The first is this gentle process may not remove all rust or dirt, etc, as there is always a balance of limiting restoration to not affect patina. The second is that tools and items are not conditioned for use such as sharpening, tightening or replacement of parts. This is left up to the judgement of the new owner as there is a large range of utilization of older tools. Lastly, the item may have residual oil left in the cleaning process. This can be wiped off but the item may benefit from an additional application of clear oil to further enhance and stabilize the item for extended life. This is

New Home New Victoria Sewing Machine c.1900 Hand Crank / Treadle Convertible?
New Victoria Sewing Machine This is a vintage sewing machine labeled"New Victoria" I believe it was made by the New Home Sewing Machine Company in 1900. I say this because in Grace Rogers Cooper's book"The Sewing Machine; its invention and development" she lists a'New Victoria' as made by New Home. If it is by New Home the serial number on the slide plate. Which is 1906598 dates this to 1900. I own an almost identical sewing machine with the name of Grand Union which I also believe was made by New Home. It has the more common New Home tension. T he tension at the top of this machine is unusual for New Home. But since it is basically the same machine as my other, I do believe it was made by New Home. This is a small machine. Definitely one that is a portable size and has a scalloped base that you would typically ... moresee on a portable machine but it does not have a hand crank, it has a large pulley wheel. So I am wondering if it was a convertible model that could be used on a treadle base or removed and used with a hand crank. There are holes on the pulley wheel and right side of the base where a hand crank may have been attached. There is a knob on the front, when you pull it the machine tilts back for access, and maybe this is how it was attached to a table. There is also a hole in the back of the base that may have been used for clamping it to a table. The machine is 13-1/2" wide. About 11-1/2" tall and 9" deep. It weighs 22-1/2 pounds before being packaged for shipping. About twice as heavy as a Featherweight. The hand wheel turns and the needle goes up and down but something needs tightening. One of the gears slips sometimes. It definitely needs cleaned and oiled. It used to have lovely red rose decals. But they are mostly worn. The nickel plating is all spotted and other metal parts are rusty. The cast iron has no cracks or missing pieces. Sorry, there are no bobbins or shuttle. This machine needs some TLC.
