Germany Dimensions, Measurements taken with article laying flat Jacket- across front: 25" between underarms Jacket- length: 16" Skirt- waist: 44" around Skirt- length: 34" Condition, Very Good Condition Description, This listing is for a Catholic woman's folk costume from the town of Marburg. Germany. The town is home to both a Catholic and Protestant population and each has its own style of traditional dress. This costume belonged to one of the last women who continued wearing traditional clothing everyday until she passed away a few years ago. The costume is made in the traditional style and is an authentic example of mid-20th century folk dress- it is not a reproduction. The costume consists of a dress(skirt with attached ... morebodice) apron, wrap shawl, jacket, and socks. The jacket is made of shiny cotton(feels like silk) and trimmed with floral ribbon on the cuffs. The skirt is made of heavy wool and trimmed around the bottom with ribbon and embroidery. The socks are hand-knit using wool and have the owner's initials stitched to the inside. The costume is in very good condition and is a large size suitable for a larger woman than more of the costumes I have for sale.
