Rastus was the mascot for Cream of Wheat cereal. He was a cutout on a cloth sheet that Grandma had to cut. Stuff and sew closed. He was a cereal premium offered by the Cream of Wheat brand. A few versions of Rastus has been offered as a"sew your own doll. This is the earliest version. This version dates back to the 1940's. He is stained. He has no holes. Or lose seams. He is faded. He does come with his original chef's cap and apron. Cap is stained. But otherwise in good shape with no holes. His apron is stained, thinned and has a hole. Ties are in a knot. Available here is a vintage hostess apron of black with large pink flowers. It features a single pocket edged in red rick rack to match the red rick rack trim of the apron. The gathered part of the waist measures 21 inches while the whole waistband measures 35 inches. It has rick rack ties of 12 1/2 inches long. The apron measures 21 inches from the top of the waistband to the bottom of the apron. I believe this apron was home made and the edges are not finished off well. There is fraying to the material where the rick rack trim is. On the front of the apron you can see some stray threads. There is some fraying to the ends of the rick rack ties and the ties are no attached to the apron well. I accept payment by PayPal and only ship to the address listed with ebay.
