Unsigned as to the maker but research states Japan circa 1940's-50's. Wonderful all original paint with normal cold paint chipping and wear. Face, hands, spoon& shoes are factory under glazed. The head is chip/repair free. The bottom has 1 chip measuring 1/2" and a hairline on the front of Mammy's apron. Hard to see but if you zoom the pictures you might see it. I mention for accuracy sake even though it doesn't distract at all from this cute jar. Her lips and other cold paint have normal wear, again nothing horrible. She measures 10 1/2" tall. My dress form. Matilda, is currently set to a size 10, and the apron is adjusted to its smallest current size. buttons could be moved to make it even smaller. Darling little owl on the front sits on a tree branch. With the positioning of the crescent moon, it could almost double as a coffee cup. The back of the waistband has a covering of striped silk ribbon. Which is quite badly shattered. The bottom of the apron has featherstitched and embroidered corners accented with multi-colored silk tassels. The ties are plain navy blue cotton tapes. The last picture shows the reverse of the embroidery and lace. In excellent condition ~ no damage. Stains or fading ~ apart from the ribbon backing the waistband. Measures 13" across the waistband and 28" long. This was found in a trunk containing textiles and clothing ... moredating back to the mid 1800s ~ the family were European.
