15" vintage 1940s western trail pleasure saddle undercut swell fork basketweave
Here's a nice old vintage western saddle. Probably hails from the 40's, and has a unique large basketweave pattern. Most striking when you first see it is the beautiful and unusual brass horn. It has a big swell that is slightly cut under. A slick seat, and exposed stirrup leathers. The exposed stirrup leathers are in surprisingly good shape for a saddle this old. They are healthy, show no unusual aging, and still lace with the old latigo thongs. The rigging is solid and sound. The saddle has a lot of years behind it, and does show wear, as would be expected. The lower skirt does tend to curl under a bit, but is soft and pliable. The front corner of the lower skirt has some damage to the outer edge, appears to be from an enthusiastic little critter of some sort. The underside fleece is also entirely gone. Someone made an attempt to ... morere-glue it at some point, leaving signs of a reddish color in places on the bottom. Some of the latigo strings are broken off, but the conchos are still solidly in place due to an old brad that was placed in the center of each. However, one concho is missing. The old stirrups were once metal bound. But are now solid wood. There is some splintering at the point of the bend, which is normal for these old models. Most of the saddle is solid and I believe usable with the addition of a nice western pad. It is strikingly attractive, but bear in mind its age.there will be some areas that speak of the years that have passed. One fender is loose at the base. I believe there was a thong tying it at some point, and it could easily be tied still again. It is solidly attached at the top and the leather feels healthy. The gullet is on the narrower side.6 1/2 inches. The seat measures a full 15 inches. The jockeys are very attractive with a almost heart shaped area of tooling on each.

RARE EARLY UNUSUAL~ GEORGE RANDALL SUNFISH~UNDERCUT GILLS~ FISH SPEARING DECOY
Here is one super rare George Randall Sunfish! most collectors have never seen this early. Early Randall body form with the undercut gills and extra fins let alone had a chance to buy one. This decoy measures 4 1/2" in length and was made by George Randall in the early 1950s. Compare this to the Randall sunfish that are more commonly seen and you will notice a real difference. The gills are deeply undercut and the decoy has domed tack eyes. The wooden tail is also straight with no curve. You will also note that the top and bottom fins at the back of the body are also a feature that was only used for a very short time after which there were no extra fins on the Randall panfish. The cast belly weight fin is also completely different than the weight used on later Randall panfish which are described as a"backward weight" The condition ... moreis as seen with normal signs of age and use including typical paint loss and wear. This Chinese carving is early 20th or late 19th Century. And has the piercing and undercutting giving it a more detailed and interesting result. It is very sculptural, not a vase. The reddish soapstone was glued to the dark brown base some time ago, and I have not attempted to separte them in particular because the mating works nicely. The base has a very rugged appearance as an outcropping of stone. The combined height of base and figure is about 9 1/2" This is really skillfully carved. This saw is in excellent condition. Runs perfect and has seen very little use. The only issue at all with this saw is that sometime or other the nuts that are used to tighten the height adjustment have been tightened with pliers, and they are slightly burred up. They're not bad at all, and could easily be replaced if a person wanted to. I've try to show them within the attached photos. We Sell MacWhyte Wire Rope Glass Advertising Sign The lettering is undercut in a twisted wire texture. The sign is gilded on its under side and reverse painted in black. The signs edge is beveled. This was never framed or mounted. There are two holes. Drilled to glass that allow the sign to be hung on a wall. Marks; as shown. No makers mark. Condition: The photos do the sign no justice. It proved very difficult to shoot. In person, it has a"Wow" factor. As the photos do show, the sign is in very good condition with a few minor blemishes. One under edge chip on one side. Minor losses to the black under painting, the worst is shown. Light surface scratches.
