I bought this saw last year for my underground pet fence business after my TS 350 fell off of my trailer returning home from a job. I said to myself. buy the biggest and best one available and you'll never have to buy another one. I don't cut through concrete and asphalt, but merely make notches in them about a half inch deep to get the wire across a drive or sidewalk. I never had any problems with it either, or any of my Stihl equipment for that matter, and I have my FS120 Weedeater since 1998, but this one has made me so mad that I just want to get rid of it and get another small one again. I've cut across about 30-40 driveways/sidewalks since I've owned it, without a problem, but a few weeks ago, I cut a notch across a piece of concrete behind an old dairy barn and it cut it like it was made of butter, but a few hours later ... moreon the same job, it wouldn't stay running long enough to cut through a 3' wide sidewalk. I took it home to check it out and If I take the filter out, it runs beautifully, but once the filter's in, it sputters and spits to no end. I replaced the filter with a new one, but it didn't help. The mixture screws are exactly like the manual says they should be. Anyone who knows about two stroke mechanics can get this saw for a steal, or if you have a new TS 420 with a diamond blade and want to trade it, let's make a deal. It's still very clean, since I only use it once every week or so, at most, and blow it off and wipe it down when I get home, it's still in very nice cosmetic condition. It was a sweet saw when it ran right, but I don't have the patience for anything that gives me any problems. I'll take a sledge hammer to it if I have to fool with it. My loss. your gain. Make me an offer if you're seriously interested in it. It wouldn't let me do a Buy It Now unless it was at least 30% higher than the first bid, but I wanted to put $1000. Stihl TS700 TS800 short block rebuilt
This saw I picked up came to me with what looked like very new lower end gasket and very tight like new bearings. Also a very clean perfect cylinder with nice piston no rings. I believe bottom end was freshly rebuilt and maybe not even run or very little so I bought rings and cylinder gasket cleaned out the bottom end with gas and assembled it. I only have what is in the picture for this saw. it only had two cylinder hold down bolts so I did not tourque any thing. You will need parts from your old saw or to purchase parts saw. I have more pics or ask me? before you bid I will try to get back to you in a couple days. A good way to get your saw up and going again.
