One Bad Chainsaw Trencher Vintage Chicago Tool 1940's 1950's Hydraulic 52 "
Found this in a barn in Virginia- at first sight. My thought was" two man chainsaw" Then my thoughts went to"trencher. Problem with that is how narrow the teeth are. The chain teeth measure 3/8 inch wide and 7/8 inch tall. Appears to be 38 teeth. Overall the entire thing measures 52 inches. The bar is 38 Inch by 7 inches tall. This monster weighs around 65 pounds. It appears to be hydraulic. The guy I got it from says it belonged to the railroad but no real indication on the saw/trencher and most railroad stuff is clearly marked. Ok, looking at it as a trencher seems it could be a removable guard that unbolts with three bolts. I guess it would have made it easier for two people to carry. This thing has lots of numbers on it. It is marked on what I think is the transmission"RP Co. with numbers as shown in the pics. The ... morehydraulic motor is marked"Chicago Pnem Tool Co. and'Little Giant' Many other numbers on it. I have all of them in the pics. This thing looks unbelievable. Lots of uses for this. Clean it up, chrome the bar and chain and it would add a lot to a vintage tractor. Use it as a trencher or just mount it on the wall in the shop and tell everyone it's a chainsaw. All the cover plates were once chrome. This thing will really clean up. This is going to have to be crated and shipped common carrier. Just a guess that shipping is going to be around $200.00.
