European, Possibly Italian Item# 120008IRU26 This is a work of exquisite craftsmanship. Covered in a thick mahogany and rosewood veneer. The colors exemplified in this chest are simply remarkable. Inlaid with fine marquetry work, the musical instruments central to the commode are flanked on either side by books hanging from knotted ribbon. Two large drawers make up the case, each fully dovetailed front and back, exposed on the sides. Crisp gilt bronze mounts grace the corners and feet, allowing the cabriole legs to terminate in lion paw feet. Hello and welcome to my listing for a very fine example of a fully restored and serviced circa 194 5 Mabie Todd"Swan" Leverless Fountain Pen in Green& Black marble with large#4 Swan nib In 1932 the renowned en glish(nee' american-english) fountain pen maker. Mabie Todd, was granted a patent for a particular type of leverless filling mech anism. Unlike the othe r leverless systems empl oyed by othe r makers. The Mabie Todd Leverless used a rigid bar attached off-centre to the twistable blind cap. W ith half an anti-clockwise t urn the bar compressed the rubber sac which filled with ink upon ret urning the blin d cap to closed po sition by means of half a clockwise turn. As col lectors are aware. The leverless system was generally fitted to the higher end Swan pens. The celluloid models usually having three gold filled cap ... morebands or a single wide gold filled cap band. As you can see from the photos below. This fountain pen i s in excelle nt condit ion. It has been f ully dismantled. Ultrasonically clean ed and a large premium sac installed. leverless pens required a large sac in order to allow proper comp ression by the rigid twi st bar. CAP St reamlined cap with tight-fitting. Gold plated Swan intrusion clip. No n oticeable brassing to clip. SWAN" logo is distinct. Three gold filled cap bands. The bands are unbrassed and the lowest band has a very slight kink in it- see photos. Gold-filled swan is present in the top of the cap. There are no cracks. Chips or repairs and the surface condi t ion is excellent. Having been lightly hand polished. SECTION AND BARREL Surface condition of the barrel and section are excellent and the pearlescence of the green is very pronounced. Cap s crews firmly in place with 3/4 turn. No ch ips or cracks or repairs. Barrel imprint i s deep and cris p and clear. Section is imprinted'SWAN' Lustrously shiny surface condi tion. Here Artist original clay sculpture is nearly ready for the foundry. Note the artist is still adding the finishing touches. Most sculptors prefer to work with clay or wax; some however. Do use wood and other mediums. Here the finished original clay is now complete. The sculptor will take it to the foundry now, get a bid then begin the first stages of the lost wax process. The first step can be shocking for some as they begin to decide how this original will be cut up. In order to prepare the original clay sculpture for molding. It will be dissected by cutting the clay with wire and by cutting the armature with a saw. The armature is what helped support the clay in place while the artist was creating it. Wonderful quality bronze sculpture of Rodin's'The Thinker' Although bearing his signature this is obviously not an original of Rodin's work but a later reimagining. The Bronze is truly exceptional quality. Please study the many photos to see the depth of the detailing and the crispness of the casting. This is a genuine hot cast bronze on a solid marble base, do not confuse this with cheap'cold cast' copies. Height 17cm. The Thinker(French: Le Penseur) is a bronze and marble sculpture by Auguste Rodin held in the Musée Rodin in Paris. It depicts a man in sober meditation battling with a powerful internal struggle. It is often used to represent philosophy. Originally named The Poet. The piece was part of a commission by the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris to create a monumental portal to act as the door ... moreof the museum. Rodin based his theme on The Divine Comedy of Dante and entitled the portal The Gates of Hell. Each of the statues in the piece represented one of the main characters in the epic poem. The Thinker was originally meant to depict Dante in front of the Gates of Hell, pondering his great poem. In the final sculpture, a miniature of the statue sits atop the gates, pondering the hellish fate of those beneath him. The sculpture is nude, as Rodin wanted a heroic figure in the tradition of Michelangelo, to represent intellect as well as poetry. Rodin made a first small plaster version around 1880. Made of gilded spelter and white marble. Atop is a crested spread Eagle symbolizing strength. Courage, farsightedness and immortality. ~ Ornate Greek crested helmets flanking the dial upon white marble pillars, resting on Sphinx’s, then marble platform with multi Lion feet. ~ The finish appears to be the original and is mostly intact. This is a beautiful Large and Heavy Vintage Alabaster or Marble Pedestal/ Compote/ Fruit Bowl in really great condition. The piece measures almost 6 3/4 inches tall by 11 7/8 inches across the rim of the top. It will come apart into two pieces there is a brass fitting on the top of the pedestal so that the pedestal and the top bowl can be separated. The condition is pretty great for something of this age and size there are some small chips to the square bottom of the pedestal and the bowl has some marks to the inside I'm not sure if they are cracks or veins in the stone it's really a heavy solid piece. This is a Vintage Marble Top Apothecary Balance Scale w/ Brass Trays. I believe it is a Henry Troemner because i have seen a couple of identical ones with the markings on the trays but I can not find any markings.It is in generally good condition but but I cannot tell you if it is accurate or not and it probably needs to be calibrated if it is to be used.The scale is 18" long-7 1/2 deep and 5 1/2 inches high to the marble top. This beautiful oil lamp is marked 1876 on the font collar(see pictures) that attaches to the burner. All components are original except the shade ring that I replaced with a decorative new solid brass one. The burner works. The etching was hand done(beautiful) and the lamp brass components are solid brass. The hand-painted Porcelain column is a exquisite floral pattern. It always amazes me how these rare 137 year old items survive the ages.

IRELAND” and is a real piece of marble in gorgeous tones of green. Black and white. The smiling jolly LEPRECHAN has a thick white carved beard. Twinkling eyes and a green hat with a clover on it. He is all dressed out in green with white socks and black shoes. The detailing is superb!
