This is sooooo neat! This is the original Slap Chop from years ago and actually made in the US! It is called the Blitzhacker or the Food Chopper says both names on the box. It was made by New-Nel out of Chicago. Illinois and the patent number is 2,782,826. It is totally in working order, would be stronger and better then the ones made today, the lid is missing on the top of the box and the plastic cover is missing on the bottom of the slap chop but it is totally not needed to use this. I have used it no problem without it, I think its a piece that shouldn’t even be there. The blades are as sharp as the day it was bought and no rust or dings anywhere. The chopper is immaculate for how old it is. This is an antique hand carved stone Chinese"Chop" Otherwise known as a stamp, or seal. It has never been used- the bottom of the plinth is uncarved. It is ready to be carved with your personal"Chop" signature. At the top of the plinth is carved a deer, curled up and resting, but with head up and ears ever alert. I'm not sure what kind of stone this is, but there are fantastic marbled or mottled shades of green, from a creamy pale to almost black, with some black speckles here and there. Condition is very nice with very several minor and fine utensil scuffs, some speckling/fogging under the glaze as shown, and a tiny"bump" on the edge leaving a tight 1" line but no chip- this is stable and I could not flake anything off. The wide rim and handles have a mustard background over white porcelain with blue. Purple, lilac, orange and yellow flowers with green leaves and tan stems. The somewhat scalloped rim has two raised rope type patterns–between which are rows if a basket weave form. The handles appear to resemble curved twigs. White porcelain is the main color of the inner bowl of the plate. Which has a monochromatic mottled treatment, topped with an indigo colored Rooster. There seems to be some indiscernible marks between the Rooster’s feet. The bottom is all white porcelain. The entire piece is finished with a high glaze. Stamped on the plate’s bottom in black. The off white plate has transfer patterns- tall ships, eagle, the US flag, and Pilgrims done in blue, reds, brown, gray, greens and white accents. There are also gilded accents. It is not marked on the back. Size: 12 3/8"d- approx. dimensions Quantity: 1- Plate Condition: VERY GOOD- no chips or cracks. There is heavy crazing. It is more expensive but worth it for your and my protection as EXPERIENCE has shown this to be the safest way to ship fragile items. If over 10 pounds I generally ship UPS as safest way to go. This is for a vintage large 13" in diameter serving chop platter. It has multiple rings on the rim and reminds me of pictures I have seen that were attributed to Catalina pottery. It may be but it is completely unmarked and may be a Bauer production. This large platter is a heavy duty one and is 1 1/4" deep. No damage at all. No scratches or anything else that I see. Vintage Stangl Chop Plate Large Round Platter Thistle Pattern
This Stangl chop plate in the Thistle pattern measures 12 1/4" in diameter. It's in very nice condition. Just a few short utensil scratches and one tiny shallow flea bite on the edge, in the white glaze, that doesn't go through the glaze to the darker color underneath. After many attempts, I couldn't get it to show in a photograph. The back is signed with the artist's initial"D" Please see my other listings.
