Unusual Bronze Original Arts & Crafts Dragon Wall Light Fitting, Sconce, Gothic
This is a very unusual Arts and Crafts wall light sconce featuring a mythical beast such as a coiling dragon or sea serpent. It has a small wings and a scaly body. The light fitting is made of bronze and has a brassed coating. It is very gothic in style and is approx. 23 cm( 9 inches) long. I would say it dates from the late 19th century when electricity became available in some homes. The fitting doesn't appear to be a conversion from gas although the brass bulb holder may be a replacement. There is a small old crack at the very base of the tail. This does not go right through and does not affect the stability of the sconce in any way. A line can be seen near the part which goes in to the wall, this may have occurred during casting, it is not damage. There is still some paint on this part. ANTIQUE ADVERTISING SHOE FITTING STOOL 1930's
This is a great shoe fitting stool from an old mercantile. We had the privelidge of attending an auction of a 100 yr old mercantile that was selling the building. This shoe fitting bench was one of the things we acquired. It probably had a padded seat as the wood is much lighter where it would have been. The legs are twisted copper. There is some corosion on the feet and a little looks like rust to me. Don't think copper will rust. Don't know for sure. There is a place where the veneer has chipped off on the seat part. The strip your foot rested on is brass and has the shoe sizes on it. There is a newer nut added to one side on the underneath. I think the picture shows that. Substantial mid sized fitting A Gorgeous French Bronze 5 arm mid sized chandelier with fluted central column a little tarnished.And lower ball portion, with decorative good quality castings to the arms,chunky cast drip trays,and a substantial hefty ceiling rose. This fitting along with many others have just been taken out of my storage and are unprepared. They have not been cleaned just a general check over for damage etc,so will need a polish for sure,the wiring looks fine but you may prefer to change Please note This is not a nice shiny new chandelier. Features solid/secure construction. Bentwood framing, black textured vinyl covered seat, rubberized footrest with aluminum surround, aluminum covered front leg cover and metal button feet on rear legs. Wood is well weathered showing light/moderate scratching. Impressions, worn edging and bond separations at base of front leg, vinyl shows a few small openings at corner fold/crease areas around edging but otherwise without holes, rips, tears or repairs and p latform footrest rubber with aluminum surround nicely weathered without holes. This is a highest quality performance two-times converter made specifically to fit Tamron Adaptall 2 interchangeable mount lenses up to 200 mm inc. zooms and to complement the quality of the superior SP range of Tamron lenses. The AD2 fitting is removed off the lens. Fitted to the 2x and then the assembly fitted to the back of the main AD2 lens. It is especially recommended for use with the Tamron Macro lenses because of the flat-field design. About twice as long as usual size 2x with six multicoated glass elements in five groups. In very good condition optically and mechanically- clear clean lenses- all cam operations OK- very light sign of use to either bayonet mount. Both original font and back AD2 caps.
