Vintage Gerstner Machinist Tool Box Chest LOADED w Tools
This is a vintage machinist 7 compartment tool box chest LOADED with machinist tools. The case was made by H. Gerstner and though it's very strong and sturdy and in very good condition. It is nowhere near new. The box is complete and in very good condition with all latches working properly and all drawers sliding like they're on glass. Great old chest which was very well made. The leather wrapped handle does show some wear from age and use but really not bad at all for its age. There is an old calendar and the previous owner's name attached to the front outside and I'll let the buyer remove them. The deep top tray and all the drawers are just loaded with all kinds of machining tools. Too many to list separately but some are very high dollar precision tools and all were made by the leading names in the industry. This could ... morebe a great collectible for the right person. Or a great buy for the person going into the machining business. Ebay only allows 12 pictures so I can't show you the sides and back of the box but I assure you the rest of the box is as good or better than the front as shown. All the corners are reinforced with either chrome or nickel pieces and these pieces show wear and surface pops. These can be easily replaced if desired but they just show the age and use of the chest. The chest and tools together weigh over 59 pounds. Check out my! I am not an expert or collector of anything. I have finally decided to sell my father's boss's father's tool box. He was a machinist in NYC. There are some tools marked as early as patent 1837. He worked there in the 1800s and I have no idea what tools and dies and taps and dies were added on. I tried to show it all the best I could in the pictures. The box is extremely heavy even without the tools. I believe it is made of oak. You really need to bid on what you see. As I can not tell you too much more about it other than I have had it since the 1950s and it was really old and he had died long before that.
