Vintage 1940's Gerstner Oak 7 drawer chest - Model O41 - Beautifully restored
During the cold New England winters. I devote my free time to refinishing a vintage Gerstner oak tool box. This one in particular, is a model O41, that was manufactured by Gerstner& Sons during the late 1940's. It has been carefully stripped down to its original quarter sawn tiger white oak and then three coats of stain to enhance the wood's beauty is applied, followed by five(5) coats of urethane finish. After this, I hand rub a coat of wax onto the wood surfaces. All the hardware is removed, examined, and cleaned. The last procedure is the installation of the beautiful high quality royal blue billiard wool cloth. There is over 50 hours of my labor that has gone into this restoration. Like I said, I do it to help pass the long winter nights and it becomes a labor of love! Antique Lufkin H Gerstner Oak Machinist Tool Box Chest 7 Drawer Saginaw MI This tool box measures 20" long. 9 1/2" wide and 12 1/2" tall. Box wood has great antique patina. All latches, hinges, drawers, knobs, mirror trim, chain, clip, ect are in tact and in proper working order. The sliding flip up door is a little loose on the bottom but still locks correctly when the top is suppressed. The leather handle is original. Up for auction is a vintage Gerstner Oak Machinist Tool box or Jewelers box. It is marked Gerstner on the lock(key included) and built by H. Gerstner& Sons. Dayton Ohio#443 is stamped inside under the last drawer. It measures 16 inches high, 26 long and 9 1/4 inches wide. The box is structurally perfect with no breaks, cracks or missing pieces. The finish could use a going over. The handle is very strong. I carried it full of tools. Some of the green felt could use replacing. It has 11 drawers. These are great for collecting your prize fishing lures, jewelry, tools or craft supplies.

1942 WWII era Oak Gerstner Toolbox Machinist Chest 26" with Original Pine Case!
Original Early 1942 WWII era Oak Gerstner Toolbox Machinist Chest with original handmade pine single drawer case. Chest stand included too! All original with 11 drawers total. Still has the pine case custom made from when this chest was new in 1942, single drawer with removable front panel, secures lower drawer when in place. Walter Chenoweth signed his machinist book which has stayed with this chest since new. Original green felts in top lid compartment. New green felts for all the drawers. One drawer has an original depth micrometer holder fitted to the original galvanized drawer bottoms. Inside bottom Dayton. OH. has hand written#490 R. The plate with model number was removed years ago from lower drawer.like all 052 models this chest measures 26" wide. The pine cabinet is 28" wide x 24" high x 11-1/2" deep. The base ... moreis 30" wide x 12-1/2" deep. Comes with working keys mfg from Eagle Lock Co. Terryville. CT. if I can find the old pine chest lock.think its gone. Lock is numbered A41N43. This was made by Gerstner.Dayton Ohio.this is 26" by 9 1/2" deep by 16" tall.felt has wear and staining.felt is rated at 2 of 10 with 10 being the best.no key.nice old Gerstner label on the bottom drawer.looks to be from the 1950's or 60's.Snap closures are strong and marked Gerstner.lock is marked Gerstner.there was a latch placed on this box resulting in some drilled holes on the top front and front cover.those holes have been filled.opens closes and secures nicely.front panel functions properly.UPS shipping quote includes $6 handling(Will be protected with 2" foam) I will combine. Made by Gerstner in the USA in the 1960's or 70's.well cared for set.has a nice Gerstner cover.felt is the characteristic red that was used in the larger Gerstner sets.main box is a Gerstner 062 and it is 26 by 10 1/2 deep 16" high.no key.felt is immaculate in the top compartment.has some staining in some of the drawers.base is 27 1/2 by 11 1/2 deep by 9 1/2 high.felt is clean but has some fading.base has its key and working lock.I'd rate felt overall in this set at 7.5 of 10 with 10 being the best.Has nice vintage Gerstner labels.and finish has aged nicely.no damage anywhere on the oak other than a couple of light scratches. $150 fixed rate UPS shipping to the Continental USA only(excluding Alaska.
