RARE Vintage Mitchell Half Bail Fishing Spinning Reel with Spindle Handle Knob
This is a RARE Vintage Mitchell Half Bail Spinning Reel with the old style Spindle Handle Knob as shown. It reels smooth(no catches) but a little stiff from being so old, but not bad. The bail mechanism works very well. The anti-reverse does not work. The push button spool release is stiff, but you can push it down to release the spool. When putting the spool back on, the spool release button will not pop up to hold the spool onto the reel(you have to take a small screw driver and push the release button back up to the top position before placing the spool back on top of the reel head) I will mention that the drag washers don’t have much play so when adjusting the drag you have either a pretty loose drag or a pretty tight drag. It says Mitchell on the side(no other numbers) It has no reel foot number. It shows a small rub on the underside ... moreedge of the main body and a few light rubs on the underside edge of the rotating head, but appearance is not bad for the vintage. Pictures show well. This pull/handle/knob is fashioned in Art Deco Columnar Design from Bakelite or Catalin that has aged to a beautiful olive green color with creamy-butterscotch marbeleing. The pull/handle/knob is 7/8" tall. Tapers from 5/8" to 3/8" on the opposite end, and is carved in ribbed columnar design for easy grasping. Vintage Stanley # 82 pat'd-1-29=07 with angle changer and beech handle and knob.
This is an old Stanley scraper with blade that measures 3 inch wide by 1.25 inches. it is hard to make out the stamp on the blade. The Stanley name along with New Britain is legible and the letter n for Conn.USA otherwise there is a lot of pitting on the blade. The Handle as some cracks and hairline cracks in knob but in sound shape. There seems to be at least 1 screw missing on the back iron with patten date 1- 29- 07 but treads in hole are all good and overhaul very little rust and seem to be all intact.Most of the finish is worn away. The copper band ferrule as is separated at its joint sometimes common because of the handle taking on bit of oval shape causes the joint to pop. It still squeezes back together so it could re soldered. Overhaul for it age this tool is still a serviceable t but would probably need another blade. Extended length ... moreof tool is 13.5 inches(34 cms. All screw and tread holes are in working condition. Any question please ask. Hopefully photos help give a good description of its condition.
