I know nothing about this machine I bought it at automotive auction. I new it was a gold plating machine but other than that I know nothing. It plugs into 110v outlet cant find any spec tag on it or any name other than auto xtras Fenton. MO there is also some old chemical in the storage box that says the same thing as machine auto xtras Fenton MO. I dont think that is the maker though. It comes as is with only what you see in pics. Original and restored. In 1936 the nation was at the depths of the depression. With millions out of work and labor strikes everywhere, this claw machine was introduced by The Buckley Company of Chicago, Illinois. As is displayed on the front placque. 5 cents to"see it operate" seems rather farfetched when other things in life were comparatively cheap, a nickel for a chance to get a prize from a machine must have seemed ludicrous. This along with the events of the depression is why so few of these Buckley Deluxe Chicago Diggers(re-James Roller)were made and the Second World War also contibuted to their demise. The castings on the cabinet are all ... morecast iron which was needed for the war effort. The construction of this crane is unique both architecturally and mechanically. The extreme Art Deco design is carried throughout the cabinet trim castings, and even the motor support bracket; as in the securing of trim to the cabinet with hidden studs, the practice of using so many screws for the hinges, and the adoption of extremely high security Dudley locks(a company which was bought out by Mills Novelty Company in the 1930's) for the prize doors. This crane works as seen in the videos. The restoration was done with chrome plating on the trim pieces, and the mechanism had one broken pot metal casting at the bottom of the crane near the positioning bear claw re-machined using a steel framework, one chain which broke under testing was replaced, and the glass was replaced with new beveled glass. The original metal weird design coin box is still in place, and two Dudley locks for the prize doors were installed in the same locations as the originals were. It includes both the dip gold for coins and such, and the very expensive Brush on gold for plating emblems and such. Also includes the stripper, and activator for nickel and stainless steel. I have 2 extra sets of anodes and the ones that came with it. I have spent about $1200 on all of this. The Dip gold is full, barely used, and the brush gold is 99% full. I have used very little of it. Steal this from me. I will ship it free. Was planning on doing friends cars too but I just haven't found the time. If you are looking at gold plating ... morestuff, there isn't a cheaper way to get it. This is barely used.
