The tube shield bases are good. The dial turns easily and dial scale is in good condition. Complete with all tubes, including the two neon regulator lamps and has most of the tube shields. Measuring 8.5 x 11 inches with 212 pages including the index. TV Servicing guide arranged by trouble symptoms by Leslie D Deane and Calvin Young. Published by Howard Sams and co in 1964, the 11th printing. Also 8.5 x 11 inches, 124 pages. Both books are sound. The Kiver book has my uncle's name on the front, and they both have some edgewear and light soiling and a faint whiff of age. Just a few words. All my pictures are of the actual item. No stock photos used! I try to describe my books as accurately as possible; fine is like brand new; very good shows tender use, looking almost new; good may have a few minor flaws like cover scuffs, usually ... morelisted; Fair shows some wear and has a visible used book look; and poor is readable but not pretty. Radio is all original and it still sounds great- a testament to it's obvious build quality. The Orion is powered by 5 tubes including a sweet sounding EL 41 power output pentode and featuring a large 8 inch Permanent Magnet Dynamic speaker mounted behind a woven fabric grill cloth and lower glass illuminated dial scale. Lowe HF-350 - Palstar R30 Shortwave AM SSB CW Radio Receiver

This is the American made Palstar R30 ham and shortwave receiver that has created a lot of buzz among enthusiasts and has been rebadged and sold as the Lowe HF-350 in Europe. It is my understanding that the American Palstar and the European Lowe are virtually identical with the only difference being a substitute AM bandwidth filter. The standard AM bandwidth on the Palstar R30 is 6 KHz. But on the Lowe HF-350 it is 4 KHz. This may have been an attempt to help control side channel interference in the more crowded European frequency bands, but the narrower bandwidth will also likely appeal to a wide variety of DXers and program listeners worldwide who may regularly experience side channel ... moreinterference since most shortwave broadcasters separate frequencies by a 5 KHz difference. This Lowe HF-350 did not come with a manual. But since it is a rebadged Palstar, it will come with a copy of the Palstar manual, a copy of the manual on CD, a couple of receiver reviews, and the low noise AC power adaptor. The HF-350 is used, but in good condition cosmetically with a couple of minor marks from a previous owner. The most noticeable mark is seen on the plastic coating over the frequency readout. Please look at my pictures for cosmetic details. Electronically the radio works perfectly with no known deficiencies. The physical size is about 25% of the D*rake R*8 for comparison. Palstar has been manufacturing a version of the R30 for a number of years and the acceptance within the shortwave community has been very warm. If you like a shortwave receiver that has loads of buttons and controls. The HF-350 will seem disappointing to you. The designer has gone to lengths to make this an easy to use, but strong performer. All products show some wear and tear for age but do not affect operation unless noted. This unit has been used and enjoyed for years.
