The F-84F THUNDERSTREAK was the swept wing version of the straight wing F-84. The prototype first flew on June 3, 1950 and deliveries began in 1954, primarily to the Tactical Air Command as a ground support fighter bomber. Republic built 2,112 of the swept-wing models and General Motors fabricated another 599. Many of them, 1,301 to be exact, were delivered to NATO air forces. Production of a reconnaissance version, the RF-84F, totaled 715 aircraft, including 386 for allied countries. The RF-84F featured engine air intakes at the wing roots in addition to cameras in the nose. The F-84Fs gradually were replaced by supersonic F-100s in the late 1950s and were turned over to Air National Guard units. However, some F-84Fs were called back to temporary USAF service in the early 1960s due to the Berlin Crisis. 1923 DeForest D-10 Radio w/All RF Coils & Crystal Detector * Near Mint & Working
Make sure to check out all of my auctions after you've looked at this one. I've got some great items listed this week. And there should be something of interest to just about everyone. Here's a beautiful. Working 1923 DeForest D-10 Radiophone, perhaps the most iconic radio of the early 1920's and one of only a handful of American radios to have been sold in a gated"smoker's cabinet. This particular D-10 won first prize in the battery radio category at a past RM-AWA meet. And if you take a closer look at it, you'll understand why. As you can see in the photographs. This is a museum quality radio throughout. The mahogany cabinet is as close to"mint" as any I've ever seen on a D-10, D-7 or D-7a. The original shellac finish is as smooth as glass, with virtually no checking and only a few scattered marks ... moreconsistent with the radio's age and gentle handling by its prior owner. The front gates open and close easily, and neither of the doors is warped. All three nickel-plated door pulls are original, and they are still snugly seated in the doors. The lower battery box is clean, and the original paper labels inside of it are clean as well. Likewise, the paper transformer chart on the underside of the lid is clean and undamaged. The engraved bakelite panel is clean. With no damage and no blotching, and it retains its original lettering. The knobs and dials are close to perfect. No chips, no cracks, no scarred bakelite. The unique, cam-driven deForest crystal detector is original, as are the cat's whisker and crystal. The cam still works smoothly and the detector arm stays put once the cat's whisker is moved into position. All four original battery wires(green and red sheathing) are still present on the chassis, and their leads have never been clipped. They extend down into the lower battery box, as originally intended, although(thankfully) no batteries appear to have been stored inside this set. The filament switch is original, and it still works. ED " BIG DADDY" ROTH RF SUPER RARE VINTAGE HUGE SURFER / IRON CROSS 1964
This is an original Ed Roth Maltese/Surfer/Iron cross made in 1964. I know that because I bought it at a car show in 1964 at the old San Diego Civic Center annual event. Ed Roth was there manning the booth alone. Airbrushing T shirts behind a counter full of all his stuff. I bought it and took it right out of his hand. As you can see from the picture it measures four inches. It is a quarter inch thick at the edges. The black part is recessed with a bumpy finish. It is cast aluminum and is in excellent shape for being almost fifty years old. The back is the open top of the casting. I had never seen another until I recently found this magazine ad and the biker pic. Check out the guy on the left who has one that is even larger.
