ARCADE Cast Iron 12"Long Mack Dump Truck w/Working Dump Body~Model AR139~ca 1925
Arcade is one of the great names in cast-iron toys; perhaps the most highly-regarded of all. It was founded in 1868 as the Novelty Iron Works. And was located from first to last in Freeport, Illinois. In 1884, when the firm was known as Arcade. It began to produce toy coffee mills from the left-over scraps of the"adult" mills it sold. However, it wasn't until 1921, when the firm struck a deal to produce Yellow Cabs that it made its mark in the toy world. The cab was an instant, overwhelming success, and led to a continuing line of cast-iron toy vehicles, as well as other toys. The firm's heyday was the 1920s, both financially and esthetically, but it continued to produce toys until the advent of World War Two. This particular example is their Model AR139. Which depicts a"Bull Dog" Mack, with chain drive, cab and ... morechassis, fitted with a spring-activated working dump body and swing tailgate. The truck measures 12" long and is complete with its nickle-plated driver; all the peices to make the dump body raise up(new"chains" were recently added) original metal wheels and paint. This is a rare toy that you hardly ever see with so many working parts still with it. Toy was made in 1925 and is in terrific condition for its age. Vintage Ideal army transport truck and trailer plastic body rubber wheels
Up for auction is this Ideal transport truck and attached trailer. These were acquired at a local estate auction and will be sold as is as found minus the dust and dirt. Look at the pictures to see the truck and trailer. The only issue I see is that the trailer and truck have a crack in the middle of the floor( see last picture) I do think at one time they had a canvas or plastic cover on the back. But this is how I found them and this is what you will get. They have soft plastic wheels on them and are not worn. It does not look as if these were played with much in the past. The truck tailgate and the trailer tailgate both have the number 4871-M-9 stamped on the inside. The bottom of the trailer has IDEAL 4871 M-8 stamped on it and on the bottom OF THE TRUCK the word IDEAL is stamped.It looks as if there was some kind of pin to hold the two ... moretogether. Drink Coca Cola White Truck Photo 30-40's? Klein Auto Body Co/Cleveland,Ohio
I am listing more of my old photos today and through the next several days(as schedule permits) They were purchased in a photo album. At an estate sale which was full of original, glossy photos of old delivery trucks and vans from the 20's through the 40's. This auction is for a White truck photo that was taken for"Klein Auto Body Co. since 1897) 3280-94 West 25th St. Cleveland, Ohio" This photo measures approximately 8 X 10" including white border) and has no photographer's stamp on back. On the side of the truck it has the coke button that reads"Coca Cola" while on the door it reads"Drink Coca Cola in Bottles/Phone PR. 0333/94" On the bottom. Next to the door, appears to be a metal plate that, I believe, says Klein Auto Body. It's hard to make it out, even with my magnifying glass. This ... morephoto has some yellowing from age, bumped corners, 4" crease on the bottom left side and 3 holes, which are torn, that are punched in the white border on the top of the photo to place in the album; but I feel it is in good condition, otherwise.
