The only blemishes that this unit has are some very minor scuffs, but there is no visible damage that I can find that would adversely affect the device's functionality in any way. We were able to test the Microfilm Reader. We do not have any actual microfiche. But we do have some random slide projector slides, so we used them. The unit itself powers on without incident, and the light inside is bright. The adjustment lenses rotate and work fine. The front panel seems to respond properly to all button presses. The roll carrier model 200 we could not get to work. We are not sure if it is the carrier unit. Or the controls on the microfilm reader. We do not have the type of connection required to connect the unit to a computer. So we haven't tested the'scanning' part. Our testing leads us to believe that this unit is in proper working order. Used Canon Microfiche Scanner 400 Up for auction is a used Canon Microfiche Scanner. The unit is in overall good condition and shows signs of normal wear. The case has yellowed slightly due to age and is very dusty. This unit looks like it was used in a repair shop type environment. The carrier and glass are also dirty and dusty. The unit powers on and has a nice and bright bulb. I used a photo negative to test the unit and it displayed properly on the screen and moved with tray manipulation. All of the buttons function and press but could not be checked fully because we don't have a scanner or printer that will work with this unit. The zoom. Focus and color knobs seem to work fine as well. Due to us not being able to test this unit fully it is being sold AS-IS. The only blemishes that this unit has are some very minor scuffs, but there is no visible damage that I can find that would adversely affect the device's functionality in any way. We were able to test the Microfilm Reader. We do not have any actual microfiche. But we do have some random slide projector slides, so we used them. The unit itself powers on without incident, and the light inside is bright. The adjustment lenses rotate and work fine. The front panel seems to respond properly to all button presses. The roll carrier model 200 we could not get to work. We are not sure if it is the carrier unit. Or the controls on the microfilm reader. Mekel M560 Microfilm Microfiche Scanner
This is a Mekel M560 microfiche scanner. The machine is working. But needs to be configured. The onboard PC needs a battery replacement for the BIOS. If you boot the machine and reset the BIOS to enable the interface port the unit will power on and will be recognized by the host PC and throw no error codes. The machine comes complete with a Dell 4500 PC loaded with Win98(re-install disc included) and original Mekel and Amitech software install discs as well as the interface card and the cable. At current the PC is configured and if you reset the BIOS on power up will function with both applications(Mekel and Amitech) provided you load the correct driver(both included) for the chosen application. The unit is turnkey and functional. But needs to be configured for scanning. It will load fiche and prescan and I have gotten good quality scans ... morehand scanning. I purchased the machine 2 years ago for $4.000.00 to run a project which turned out to be jumbo fiche when it arrived. The Mekel M560 does not support jumbo fiche scanning. As a result the unit sat around for about 2 years at which time the onboard PC battery expired requiring the BIOS re-set if the machine is not powered on regularly. This problem is readily fixed by replacing the $5.00 battery on the motherboard. As to the configuration. I haven't done one from scratch, I have done limited reconfiguration but not from scratch setup. If you know how to do this, then this is the machine for you. If you DO NOT know how to do this, I highly recommend contacting a professional service company readily available by a Google search to configure the machine for use. The machine is in very good cosmetic and mechanical condition and had I put it directly into production on arrival probably would have functioned beautifully.
