Used South Bend Heavy 13"X36" metal lathe Model number CL145B. Bed is 5' Bore is 1 3/8" All gears are in good shape. The lathe itself has minor wear in the ways smooth minor scratches no ridge. There is also some wear on the compound from the chuck, and the chip guard on the cross slide has bee shortened. This lathe includes 6" 3 jaw chuck w extra jaw set, 8" 6" face plate, collet closer with 16 5C collets in SB cases, micrometer stop, Rocker toolpost with r-l-s holders knurling plus boring, thread dial, chuck wrench, Jacobs chuck with key, dead center, forward reversing drum switch, and quick change gearbox. The backlash is less than 1/4 turn in crossfeed and 1/4 turn in compound. The spindle is 2 3/8" 8tpi. It has a 1.5Hp 3 phase 240 volt motor and is on the original South Bend base and chip pan with ... moreadded 3 drawer cabinet. RARE ORIGINAL SOUTH BEND 9 10K LATHE PEDESTAL LEG MOUNT COUNTERSHAFT CAST IRON
Rare and Very Nice- Original South Bend cast iron single pedestal leg countershaft assembly. This unit is mounted to the floor directly behind a South Bend 9" lathe headstock. Countershaft assembly stands 42 3/4" high to the center of the pulley shaft. The base plate is 8 1/2" wide x 5 1/4" deep. Entire unit is 12" wide without the pulley guard. Extremely heavy. Cast iron pedestal mounted countershaft. The guard is also extremely heavy, which is the orignial guard for the unit. There is a swing arm section with two clamps that mount to the back of your lathe bed. The countershaft assembly is adjustable by using the two turnbuckle adjusters. Your three step countershaft cone or v belt cone can be installed on the shaft of this unit. The shaft is easily removable and the bearings seem to be in fine order. Pulley shaft ... moreis 7/8" diameter. The large pulley is 10" diameter. This is only the second one of these that I have yet to see. Due to the weight and size of this unit, it will need be shipped in two seperate cartons. One being the main body of the unit, the second would be the swivel base, swing arm and guard. Up for bid is a 1/2" Rocker Tool post for a metal turning lathe. This lighthouse style tool post accepts 1/2 inch wide tool holders and has an adjustable rake angle. The threads are in very good shape. It comes with an Armstrong 83-023 tool holder and also an Armstrong part-off tool holder. All in very nice shape!
