Vintage George Wostenholm & Son's Wedge Razor, needs sharpening skills home
It's a great looking blade. That had considerable pitting removed. It's a wedge and needs a home that has sharpening skills. Those abrasions on the side of the razor came from my first attempt to sharpen the blade. Used one tape and it wasn't enough. Home made scales with bolts and nuts holding it in place. It works! The blade is great looking, it's just short of 4/8" at it's narrowest point and 5/8" at it's widest. It has a substantial spine and lots of blade there. It became a pet project and even wanted to keep it for personal use. But my skills at sharpening it, are not that good. So I'm letting it go to find a home with some TLC.

Bashlin Aluminum Alloy Pole Climbers & Gaff Sharpening Kit
This auction is for one"used" pair of Bashlin aluminum pole climbers(with upper/lower straps. Pads and leather gaff guards) and one Bashlin gaff sharpening kit(which is missing the stone but is otherwise complete) The reason for the quotation marks around the word"used" is that these fine pole climbers spent most of their existence collecting dust(and some surface rust) in the back of a van. And have not been extensively used at all for their intended function- if my memory serves me correctly, I'd say half a dozen climbs or less. The climbers are aluminum alloy(much lighter than their steel counterparts) And the gaffs are set at a 17-degree angle(Bashlin claims that they are"the most forgiving gaffs on the market" and- having used both Klein and Bashlin climbers before realizing that I was probably better ... moreoff using a ladder- I would agree) The spikes have some surface rust, but are in like new condition otherwise. There is some surface rust on the rings for the bottom straps and the upper and lower buckles, but all parts are fully functional and free from damage. Straps, pads, and gaff guards show some blemishes, but are likewise in like new condition other than that. The sharpening kit contains a gaff gauge. Mill file w/ wooden handle, and instructions for sharpening and maintaining gaffs(sorry about losing the sharpening stone along the way) in a sturdy carrying case. I would love to see these climbers go to a good home. Where they will at last have the satisfaction of serving the purpose for which they were created!

Will also work for small carving chisels up to about 1/2 inch or so wide. This jig holds the tool securly and can be adjusted to different angles. Both up and down and on the sides. The secret to doing good engraving is to have sharp tools, the secert to having sharp gravers is hold them at a consistant angle while sharpening. This jig does that easly.I have an identical that I use and it works great, one of those little tools that make a hard job.easy! Cleaning Out the Closets My grandfather worked in the Southern Colorado mines and the contents were used in conjunction with the carbide lamps the coal miners wore in the underground mines. I’m assuming the sharpening stone was used around the ranch. The sharpening stone case is torn. The carbide holder is approximately 4 inches in height and 2 1/4 inches in width.
