Adjusting take up sleeve with locking nut for maintaining proper degree of post rigidity. The Post Snug has 3/8 and a 5/32 inch holes, but the design allows holding many different diameter rods. A locking lever tightens the internal steel cable to make the post rigid and lock it in position. You are looking at a very Nice Starrett Magnetic Indicator Holder Base only# 658 This item appears to look like in new condition. It looks like it sat for a period of time and has a few scuff marks from being bushed around in a tool box etc. The Push button does have some marks on it as well.
