Large Antique Wood& Brass Tripod Hello. For your consideration is this large. Early, brass and wood tripod, suitable for large and heavy transits or levels. I believe the wood is mahogany or walnut. The outside diameter of the all- brass head is 3 13/16" The threads are fine. And in my opinion are in good condition. The total length is 56" when folded up. I can find no makers mark on this heavy duty tripod. Only a couple of ISC identification marks(Iowa State College, no w the University of Iowa State) The nicely sculpted legs are approximately 1 3/4" thick at the broadest. And have all brass hardware other than the metal feet. One of the legs has a slight warp. There are of course chips. Age checks and dings as you would expect on a working tripod, and there is an old repair that was made with copper or brass rivets, but ... moreit is very solid and ready for work or display. Antique Kolesch Wye Level /Buff CO. Case/Oak Tripod
We are delighted to offer another fabulous antique fresh to the market. I have absolutely no knowledge about this kind of item so I am going totally on what is observable. The exact age of this is unknown but we suspect it is from the late 1800's to early 1900's. This is a Kolesch Wye Level. It is stamped on the side with the name and the model# 2992. I do not know if htere are supposed to be any other parts with this. There is no lens cap over the scope. There is paint loss from use and age to the black sections of this and the brass is tarnished. All of the levers and moving pieces move smoothly. There is a piece in the box that is round with three arms that screws onto the bottom of this. It is no tused for mounting this to the pole so I do not know what it goes to. There is also a second piece that appears to sit on top of the ... morescope. I think it is some kind of site piece. The instrument itself stands approximately 7" high to the top of the levers and it is 12" long. This is in a wood box that I believe to be oak. The box hasa metal tag that is diamond shaped and has the name"Buff" onit. There is also a paper tag on the inside of the box for"Instrument Repairing" information. At the bottom of the paper it has Buff& Buff Mfg. Co. Jamaica Plain Station. Boston, Mass. The box measures 13 1/8" x 5 1/8" x 7.5" It has a leather strap with a metal buckle. The buckle has some light surface rust and the strap is worn. It does not have any tears on it and the box can still be safely lifted with it. There are two eye hooks that hold the box closed on the front. On the inside cover there is a slot to hold the site piece and there is an eye hook that keeps it in place. This is missing the screw that the hook attaches to. There are scratches anddings on the box. The finish also has crazing to it. This also has an oak tripod with it. There is a metal piece that unscrews on the top of the tripod where the instrument screws on. This metal piece has the name Kolesch New Y

Book is copyrighted 1950: its a little crumpled but readable and usable- cover is loose. Level seems to be in working order. Up for grabs is a Keuffel& Esser Co. Dumpy Level Telescope with the Original Dovetailed Wood Box and Product Info Flyer. This piece comes with a lens cap and a piece that fits over the end to provide shade somewhat like a baseball cap does. I am not an expert regarding pieces like these. But it seems to be in pretty good shape! I can look through the telescope and focus it just fine. Also the telescope swivels with no problems on the base. The brass base is threaded to screw onto a tripod, and it fits into its original box nice and snug. I believe this piece is cast brass or bronze as it is pretty heavy. Be sure to add me to your!Be sure to add me to your! This all brass PATENTED 1927 GURLEY SURVEYORS' LEVEL. SERIAL NO. 27180, was the 180th level made by W. and L.E. Gurley Mfg. Co. of Troy. N.Y. during 1927. This manufacturing information is imprinted on the level. On the underneath brass plate March 16 is inscribed. The all brass level is mostly painted black to shield from reflections. The top telescope, meauring 18 1/ 2 inches long, has two knobs for adjusting the focus. There is a black/brass sun shield in the case, 1 7/8 inches in diameter by 5 1/2 inches long, which can be placed on the large end to shield from direct sunlight. There are two brass scew-in pegs on the opposite side which are used to secure the telesope in place; they can be unscrewed to allow it to be removed. The lens and crosshairs are good. The bubble level hangs ... moreimmediately below the telesope attached by brass fittings. The telesope holder frames the bubble level. This holder is attached to the bubble level's leveling mechanism consisting of four perpendicular arms holding the four leveling screws which sit on the brass plate which screws onto the tripod's center plate. Opposite screws are used for leveling. There are two addition screws on this leveling mechanism which finetune the process. The Surveyors' level's threaded central base screws tighly around the tripod's threaded plate. The tripod's threaded brass plate is 3 5/8 inches in diameter. It sits on top of the three legs with its' neck sitting between them. The plate has three brass spacers which fit into the middle of the carved out legs to secure them to the plate. Held by posts with wingnuts. The hallowed out section of the legs extends down 21 inches with a wood spacer midway. This yields a Deco flair to the tripod and reduces its' weight for carrying. Vintage Slom Type SN 1 C Work Site Level w/ Alum case and tripod ( Paris 1960's)
Up for grabs is a Vintage Slom Type SN 1 C Work Site Level with Aluminum case and tripod( Paris France 1960’s? This work site level was I believe used to level Bobst die cutters in the mid to late 60’s.There is a 4 page brochure in only fair shape that explains features and gives instructions on its use. Only thing is they are written in French. I went on-line to translate some phrases and I will include what I found in the description. When looking thru the eye piece the optics are clear and you see several of both vertical and horizontal cross hairs. The eyepiece and knob on the side of unit next to the Slom name both adjust for focus. The right knob of 3 when looking thru it has graduations and degree settings that can be focused, by the smaller thumbwheel to the left of knob that raises and lowers lens. The middle knob locks the rotation ... moreof level. The left knob I think adjusts to line up split bubble that is on top when viewed thru second eye hole to left of main viewer. The 2 knobs on the base tilt the level front/back-left/right. There is 1 knob in the front that lowers or raises the lens. There are 2 leveling bubbles. One that you have to get in a bulls-eye and the other a regular level type bubble. The hard case is slightly dented beneath the leather handle, it has a cast aluminum base and a steel cover with locking latches and leather handle. There is a small wrench and plumb bob with string and holder. The very rugged Tripod is original to the set has the correct top plate that fits into the keyhole slot on the base of the level. Folded the tripod is about 36” tall, extended about 59”There is no method of locking the legs in a set position, but there is locking the length of the legs. There is also a knob underneath the top plate that allows you to move level back and forth and lock in position. What would hold the legs in position are the metal tips that you sink into the ground. For auction is a used rotating laser level on a tripod by Northern Industrial Tools. I checked the laser with fresh batteries and it did not turn on. This equipment came from an estate sale and I really don't know anything about it. There is some corosion in the battery compartment as if batteries were left in it. Up for Bid is a Vintage DW Co. 3-1/2 x 8 Surveyor's Transit Level Tripod! Im not sure exactly how old this tripod is. But it made of mostly wood and looks vintage-ish. It is in good overall condition(besides some missing paint that you can clearly see) and the parts move smoothly and tighten properly. Im assuming that the"3-1/2" that is listed on the plastic cap is the measurement of the diameter of the threaded mount area. I will provide a money back guarantee. Thanks for looking!
