NICE Small Antique Hammer - Old Vintage Silversmith Jewelers Metalsmith Tool
This is a gorgeous little hammer! I'm not sure of the age. But I do know that after I cleaned the years of grime of it, I seriously thought about keeping it for myself! The hammer is a bit less that 6 1/2 inches long and weighs 2 ounces! The head is 2 inches long and it has a 1/2 inch square face. The hammer is in excellent condition for it's age. The head fits tight and there are no cracks in the handle. But there is a small"crease" near the head. It's kinda like a 1/4 inch long, narrow, shallow dent. I only say this simply because I like to be as accurate as possible when describing my tools. This would be a fantastic display tool with it' grooved handle. There is a sticker on the handle. It is marked 15mm. The other sticker shows some japanese writing. The face of the hammer is 5/8' diameter. The claw appears to be slightly angled. it not bend. Very Rare and Early Antique Blacksmith Anvil Forged Tinsmith Silversmith or Farrier Double Head Rounding or Smoothing Hammer in fantastic condition for the age This amazing old blacksmith forged tool was found several years ago while liquidating the estate of a lifelong master Reed& Barton Silversmith. Who had acquired quite a stunning collection of hammers, as these were found with several stunning Dixon hammers and truly one of a kind Heller hammers, Cat's Paw and other blacksmith rounding hammers as well. The head measures roughly 6 1/2" across and it is 14 1/4" long, while weighing a total of 3 lbs. and each of the faces is roughly 1 1/4" in diameter with one of the faces being slightly larger from being flattened. Unusual Forming Hammer - Old Vintage Jewelers Metalsmith Silversmith Tool
This is a rather unusual finishing or machinist's hammer. The hammer is in great condition. The wood grain(fiberglass? grips are intact and tight on the handle. Both faces have clean edges too. The hammer is 10 1/2 inches long and weighs a bit over 16 ounces. The head is 4 3/4 inches long and it has a slightly domed 11/16ths inch wide face. The point peen is about 5/8ths of an inch wide. This Guss Stahl#4 raising hammer is in very good condition for it's age! The head fits tight and the handle is free from cracks and chips. The hammer is just under 12 inches long and weighs about 16 ounces. The head is 6 1/4 inches long. The faces are approx. 1 1/8th X 3/16ths inches and 1 1/16th X 1/8th inches. There is some pitting and discoloration on the head. But no rust! The faces do need to be polished again. Unusual Vintage Planishing Hammer - Old Jewelers Silversmith Metalsmith Tool
This kinda unusual planishing hammer is in great condition for it's age! The head fits tight on the flattened handle. There are a couple of shallow stress cracks on the handle just at the base of the head. BUT. They are shallow and do not affect the use of the hammer at all. Stress cracks like these are usually caused by too large a wedge or too much force used to seat the head on the handle. That's also why you set the handle INTO the head and you don't hammer the head ONTO the handle! The hammer is 10 1/2 inches long and weighs 1lb 2 ounces.The head is 4 5/8ths inches long and both faces are about 1 inch in diameter. The striking faces are polished. The handle has been hand-shaped to an ergonomic pattern. The handle has been left in its natural state to allow maximum grip and control. ANTIQUE HANDMADE BLACKSMITH SILVERSMITH SHEET METAL HAMMER DIFFERENT TOOL Copper
Here we have a very interesting double face hammer that I got with some other tyools from the estate of an old man that did silvesmith work as well as copper work as well. Is obviously hand made but is made very well. Head measures about 5 inch across with one face about 1 inch across the other about 3/4 inch. Both faces are polished bright with no damage and just minor normal wear. Has a very nice old 12 inch hickory handle, no damage such as splits or cracks, has a couople hairlines under the head but affects nothing. This wonderful older raising hammer is in excellent condition for it's age. The head fits tight and the handle is crack and chip free. It's unmarked except for a previous owner's initials(JPA) engraved on the head. The hammer is 11 inches long and weighs just 10 ounces. The head is 5 3/8ths inches long. The two different faces measure 7/8ths x 1/2 inches and 11/16ths x 1/8th. The only reason why I'm selling it is because its almost identical to one of my"regular" hammers. Older Dixon Chasing Repousse Hammer - Old German Jewelers Silversmith Tool
This classic German Dixon brand chasing hammer is in excellent condition and practically looks unused! The handle is crack and chip free. But the head has a slight front to back wiggle. There is also some chipping of the chrome overlay on one side of the head, but the base steel looks fine underneath. This is one of the smaller styles Dixon offered at just 3 ounces. The hammer is 9 inches long with a 2 1/8th inch long head. The 1 inch wide face is flat with clean. Sharp edges and no dings.
