The use of these hammers will not produce any sparks while working with them. This particular hammer was used by a railroad employee in the Omaha rail yards while he worked on oil tank cars or box cars with explosives. The hammer dates from the 1940s. Wilton 3 Pound Cross Pein Hammer, 15-1/2" Overall Length, "Unbreakable" Handle
This auction is for a Wilton 3 pound cross pein hammer with overall length of just over 15-1/2 inches. I purchased this hammer perhaps a year ago from Wilton and I don't think it's never been used. The head has a number of scuffs and dings in the green paint and there are a few scuffs on the striking surfaces. The green letters on the handle are a bit faded or perhaps they were like that when I received it. Not sure. The handle on this tool is stamped"UNBREAKABLE" A real nice tool. 2) Machinist Hammers. 1) is Brass and about 16 ounce head. It looks excellent with only minor use showing. A label on the handle was carefully peeled back and the handle is marked"GRACE USA BH-16" The other(1) is a Copper head marked 4 ounce. The head is well flared. The handle was cracked and looks like a clear epoxy was used to glue it up. It feels solid and strong and will be fine for lighter use. Don’t like our asking price? Metocraft 450-SB Soft Bronze 4 1/2 Lb Hammer Non Sparking
Used bronze hammer from metocraft. 4 1/2 lb head in nice shape used only a few times. From the manufacturers site: Type SB: Non-mushrooming/ Safety Type Hammer bronze hammers are made of a special bronze alloy and specially designed cored opening in the head. So that repeated blows will deform the metal inwardly rather than mushroom the head. Danger of flying pieces from a mushroomedhead is thereby eliminated. These heads are non-sparking and they are well secured to a straight-grained hickory handle by means of a spring type cross pin that may be easily removed for handle replacement. If necessary.
