Basically you just fill the basket with food, let the door close, set the timer(either pre-set or manual mode) and the fun begins. the basket of food is automatically lowered into the oil and will cook for its set time, then automatically raise out of the oil and beep to let you know it's cycle is over. it's great! The unit has a digital display for the timer and oil temperature. And also displays the various safety items that may be interfering with the operation like an open door or perhaps the filter needing replacement.
