Vintage JC Higgins Fishing Tackle Box
You are bidding on a vintage JC Higgins fishing tackle box. It is black in color and 19x9x10 in overall size. It features 2 foldout trays per side with a total of 21 lure compartments altho they are repositionable to fit your needs. There is no rust on this inside but does have some surface rust on the bottom(see 5th pic) but overall is a very solid box. It does have a key with the lockable hasp. However the hasp is broken and showed in position for the first pic for reference only but can be reattatched if you like. The other two hasp do work great and closes the box perfectly. The worms in this tackle box(13 bags and 2 factory packs) actually came from a variety of companies i.e. Mann's and Pee-Wee. They were in another tackle box which was dropped and shattered beyond use. I am not good at fishing with these worms. There is a manila envelope and a clear plastic container with hooks. Set of clippers to trim the line after knotting, emory board to sharpen hooks if desired, sinkers, and barrel swivels. The tackle box has a securable location. This is an original. Vintage Winchester 9533 tackle box. This item was produced during the 1920's when Winchester Repeating Arms produced hardware and sporting goods for sale in their line of hardware stores known as Winchester Stores. This was the largest tackle box in the Winchester line with two removable trays, both of which are included with box. This is pretty unusual as many trays are lost, especially the small one in the lower compartment. The Winchester trade mark is painted inside the top lid. Condition is really very good considering the age and how the piece was used in life. There are the usual dents and scratches from usage, light surface corrosion(but no holes or feathering of the tin material) paint wear. Owner's initials painted on the front.
