Simms Guide Model Gravel Guards - One Owner - Great Shape!
These one owner gravel guards come from a smoke free home. They were used for two seasons. Then I purchased and used waders with built in gravel guards on my new waders. These guards have full elasticity in the neoprene, no tears, rips, fading or stretching. The velcro is full strength and the metal lace clips are solid and unbent. There is is some ground in mud(see pics) but could be washed out. Please carefully view pictures to fully determine condition. This is a SIMMS Fishing Jacket. I am the original owner. And used it only a couple of times a few years ago, before I had to stop fishing. It is a Men's Medium in EXCELLENT CONDITION. It has the wind-stopper cuffs with Velcro closures inside of each sleeve. Hand warmer pockets and huge pockets in front for fly boxes, as well as two more smaller pockets on the inside. This is a pair of SIMMS Waders. Size Medium G. I don't know what the G means.maybe you do. I acquired these through a storage unit that I recently purchased and I am a bit out of my element. The material content is 75% Neoprene and 25% Nylon. The top pocket which has the Simms label Velcro shuts. The material looks like it has not had any use at all. There are a few spots that look like they might be dirty. I did not try to was them. As I am unfamiliar with this material. I think it's just dirt, but could be a stain. There is a little bit on the rear end and legs. But like I said, it's probably a little dirty, and the material doesn't show signs of wear. Measurements: Since there are built in boots. I'm not quite sure how to measure an inseam. Scarce albumen photo. Simms Cadets, from Bahama Islands, circa 1890s, the image approx. 3.75 x 5.5 in. on the original printed 4.25 x 6.5 in. mount. Mild soiling, and image a shade or two light and a bit grainy(possibly a period copy) otherwise very good. A scarce and compelling view of young black men in a military setting. The image depicts 12 boys. All black and evidently ranging from about 8 to 12 years of age, sitting and kneeling(and two reclining) All wear the same military-style uniform featuring hat with encircling white wrap, distinctive open jacket that buttons at the neck, sash or cummerbund, belt, and shoes covered by calf-length spats. Behind them are four sets of three rifles, with bayonets, in standing"tripod" formation; behind the boys at right is what appears to be a large mantelpiece. Troughton & Simms Nautical Telescope - Rare Antique - One of a kind
This rare Troughton& Simms nautical telescope is engraved with a mystery officer's name and obviously was used on a very old ship at one time. The company is famous for it's precision and well made instruments and is described by wikipedia as follows: Troughton& Simms was a British instrument-making firm. Formed when in his old age took on as a partner in 1826. It became a limited company in 1915 and in 1922 it merged with to form. The firm produced hundreds of astronomical instruments such as. Transit circles, And other astronomical instruments for observatories around the world. Previously. Troughton had been a sole proprietor, and before that he was in partnership with his brother John. John died and Edward took on Simms in 1826. Edward Troughton died in 1835. This object has been in my family for about 100 years. But sadly ... morethe stories have been lost as to how it came to be with us. The date engraved on the collar is 1872 and if I could read old script I might get the officer's name right but please don't quote me. It seems to read"F.W. Dowell R. N. This object is a real piece of history. I just wish I knew more about it's past- perhaps the new owner can unearth a real story behind this. For nautical lovers this is a piece of high seas tech that at it's time could turn the tide of battle, in an age that didn't suffer fools or those slow to make a decision.

Antique Troughton & Simms early 19th Century Artificial Horizon
Antique Troughton& Simms early 19th Century Artificial Horizon An antique Artificial Horizon by Troughton& Simms for sale. It was used in field observations to determine the elevation of a star or any other sky body when the horizon was not visible. The vertical angle between the star and it's reflection was measured and then divided by two to establish the angle of elevation above the horizon. The instrument consist of a fluid filled tray with a tent shaped glass cover that was placed over it to protect it from any disturbances. The fluid could be water. Oil, molasses or mercury. The fluid acted as the reflecting surface in the contraption. Similar construction instruments date back to 1730s and the concept is still used today. As you can see in the photos the instrument consists of a tent shaped glass cover held up by a metal ... moreframe. A metal tray at the bottom and a small metal container which housed the fluid. And all of this housed in a very nice mahogany case with cedar detail. The case is missing one of the hooks on the front. Makers printed label saying" TROUGHTON& SIMMS. Optical and Mathematical INSTRUMENT MAKERS To the Honourable Board of Ordnance. LONDON. can be seen on the inside of the lid. The small metal container does not house any liquid right now and is a little bit rusty, the glass cover has a very nice engraving of the manufacturer on one of its sides.
