Here is what I say: I am the original single owner of this gently(and seldom) used ZG Helios fly rod. It was my second rod bought in 12/27/2010 from Mossy Creek Fly Fishing Shop in Harrisonburg VA. I bought it new for $775. I hate to let this one go. But I just don't get up into the small creeks to fish any longer. Truth be told, I fished this rod less than 10 times. It's been sitting in my home on a rod wall rack not sitting in a corner in a garage. You just don't treat a rod like this like that. I have 3 other fly rods(ALL ORVIS Superfine Touch and ZG Helios rods) in the 8+ length. It's a long standing and trusted brand. This little thunderbolt has tons of power to throw streamers and nymph rigs on small brush choked mountain streams. And yet. It can delicately cast a tiny dry fly and has enough backbone to throw it way ... moreup into far to reach pockets and maintain control. I'm selling it to put money towards getting an Orvis bamboo rod. I believe it weighs between 1.5 to 1.75 oz! All the guides are intact. Clean and in perfect working order. This is a real ZG ORVIS HELIOS rod. I know there are some people selling HELIOS rods but those are blanks they bought and then built them themselves. I have the receipt for mine.see it in pictures. Vintage Orvis Bag Tackle Creel Tavel
Vintage Orvis bag that could be used as a creel. Tackle or travel bag. The dimensions are 14in x 7in x 6in. I do not think this bag has ever been used, as you can see from the buckles, they show no wear or off coloration from being buckled and unbuckled. It has 2 small pockets with buckles at each end, while the main flap opens and the main compartment is divided into 3 sections. It also has a shoulder strap that again shows no signs of wear. Overall condition is near perfect with only some minor scuffing of the leather on top of the bag, presumably from having stuff stored on top of the bag. Shipping will be $8 via USPS to U.S. only. This Orvis Battenkill Fly Reel is circa 1969-1970 and was made by J.W. Young of England. The model is the very scarce"Flyweight" and it measures 2 3/4" in diam. with a 5/8" spool openning. Spool is polished aluminum and reel can be used either left or right hand wind. This reel looks to be unused and paint is over 99% The hub has a tiny nick the sizes of a pinhead. Orvis Superfine Trout Bum 6' 2 wt 4 piece rod in excellent condition! This is on of the 1 oz series of Orvis rods although I believe that this one actually weights 1.2 oz. It feels extremely light in hand and is a joy to cast! It's a Full-Flex 3.0 rod using Orvis' measuring system but it's not a slow rod and casts very nicely with both 2 and 3 wt lines. I used a 2 wt double taper on it with great success. At 6' in length and 4 pieces the rod tube is less than 22" long and fits easily in carry-on luggage. This is perfect for small stream. Tight quarters fishing. The rod is in excellent condition with very few signs of wear. I went over it from tip to butt while with a damp rag to make sure there were no scratches or gouges. The cork is also in great shape as you can see from the photo. The rod sock is in very good ... morecondition with no stains. This is an Orvis"All-Rounder" 8' 3" 2 1/2 oz. 2 pc. fly rod. Rated 7 wt. by Orvis, at 2 1/2 oz. this is the same weight as an 8 1/2 ft. 5 wt. Henry's Fork" or an 8 ft. 6 wt. Trout" model, which often weighs in at 2 1/2 oz. Go figure. It is a medium action with a strong back half and softer towards the tip, probably why they rated it for 7 line, because of the strong back half. It is a light 7 wt. and fishes well with a floating or sinking 6, which were the lnes I liked best on it and a DT 5 floating works real well too. This one's in good shape, see the pictures. 2 tips here, the main tip that is original to the rod and a"spare" tip that is 4 inches short, that came off another"All-Rounder" I broke and had repaired by Orvis, so you will have two rods here really. The wraps are all virtually ... moreidentical, a dark burgundy/cordovan color. The tip that's 4 inches short fishes of course a touch faster and heavier, more a true 7 wt. and real suitable for bass bugs or big terrestrials. With this tip on, it's a 7' 11" rod.
