I'm selling this British made Hardy Marquis 8/9 fly reel with line and case.Everything is in excellent almost unused condition.Just the smallest scuff on case and some light tarnish on the reel's edges which would probably buff off.No marks on reel's back.An estate find.I've never used this reel and I can't tell you what weight or line type that's on the spool.The line is in pristine condition and certainly weight matched to the reel.Undoubtably high end floating line.Still has the leader on it.Couldn't have been used for more than one salmon fishing trip from the looks of it. RARE Vintage Hardy SEA SILEX 6" Reel
You are bidding on one of the most rarest of Hardy reels. The"SEA SILEX" non-perforated faceplate reel, 6" in diameter, with a BULBOS COW HORN HANDLE" dating this reel circa 1920-1930, with the maker's initials(JSD) inside, being"James Davison" who began working for Hardy in 1920, and fitted with a large smooth brass foot, a two screw latch, and a knurled edged tension nut, and lever operated external break with pad. According to Hardy records, this reel was made of"DURALUMIN" and this non-ventilated faceplate first went into production and dates this reel to about 1930s. The reel is recognisable in that it is fitted with a compression check. The check is operated by a lever mounted in the rim of the reel and does. A.H. Hardy vintage tooled hoster
Very hard to find maker. A.H. Hardy was a sharp shooter and a trick shooter in the 1890s. He later became a representative for the Peters Cartridge Co. and toured the country giving sooting demonstrations. He opened a saddlery first. Then in the 1920s opened a gun leather shop which operated through the 1930s. This holster has a wonderfully carved design. As can be seen in the pictures the detail is great sharp and clear. It is in great shape. It is marked 45 71/2. It is made for Colt SAA 71/2" barrel. You won't be disappointed. Hardy gun leather is getting very rare.

I picked up the rod to have a second 9wt in the boat but with all the rods I already have it was getting too crowded so this one never made it out. I have lawn casted it once but no actual fishing time was spent with this rod. The Hardy uniqua is a nice stick and can handle the best any striper can throw at it(what I had baught it for) So in the end I need to clear out some stuff and my loss is your gain.

Hardy's Anglers' Guide & Catalogue 64th Edition 1958 (Printed 1957)
The House of Hardy 64th Edition of"Hardy's Anglers' Guide and Catalogue" 1958. The cover is slightly grubby but the darkened area in the bottom right-hand corner of the picture is due to the very slightly ruffled corner which resulted in the catalogue not lying completing in touch with the scanner when producing the picture. The spine is completely solid with no sign of any page becoming loosened but does have signs of wear to the spine at the extremes of the top and bottom and a half by a quarter inch loss of cover surface running from the edge of the spine to the rear cover. This loss is located an inch and a half from the top of the catalogue. The catalogue is free of scribblings or marks of any kind with the pages very closely retaining their original'whiteness' and of course. In addition to the history of Hardys, ... morethe tackle and equipment, there are the ten colour plates of salmon and other flies each in immaculate condition. Payment· I accept PayPal. Here for offer is a pair of lovely old Hardy Tope traces in what looks like unused condition. One of the packets is quite decent the other is a bit knocked around. Brigadier Davy spent his later years in Alyth. Perthshire and was also a respected portrait and landsacpe painter. I will be listing more of this collection over the next few days.
