But I believe it's been around for a while! The ... morereason I said VINTAGE in the listing is because the cursive/scroll writing on the reel looks different from the newer"Flyweight" reels from Hardy, but I really don't know for sure! Anyhow. The brand of this reel is HOUSE OF HARDY and it was made in England. It looks to be in excellent shape, which doesn't surprise me, as my father always kept everything in pristine condition! The reel says in cursive, Made by House of Hardy, England" and it also says, The Flyweight" There is a peach- coloured line wrapped around the reel. It comes with a blue. Vinyl-type zip case which also says House of Hardy on the top. It looks like there is a small piece of vinyl coming off from the case, near the back of the case, where the zipper begins. Please see photos! He also attached a little tag on the outside of the case and it says"2 WT" So, I'm not really sure what that means. Maybe the line is a 2 weight line? Inside the case is a little pamphlet/paperwork from House of Hardy that talks about how to care for your reel. Etc. My dad was a big fly-fisherman. He fished in rivers. Mostly in Connecticut, Maine and Montana. He'd be happy to know this was going to one of his fellow fly-fishermen! here is a lovely 4 inch salmon perfect made by jimmy smith reel maker at hardy. the reel is in fantastic usable condition with chunky black handle. Ribbed brass foot, nice strong check no play or wobble on spindle, no line burns, as good as the day it was made mechanically ready for the new season. as you can see from the pics the reel is in great condition with only a tiny bit of pitting to one part of the frame this in no way makes a difference to the reels workings or looks. it has great patina and is a well sort after salmon reel Check out my!

The reel measures 2 9/16 inches across and has"The St. George Junior. Pat. No. 24245, 9261Size 3 3/8" Made By Hardy Bros. Ltd. Alnwick, England" impressed in to the back plate. The ribbed alloy foot has"Pat. No. 272409" impressed into the side, this is sturdy and well attached, as is the ebonite handle. The agate lined line guide appears to a replacement and there is a hairline crack across the rim by the line guide, however the reel is still solid and ... moresturdy, the rim regulator screw moves fine. The reel revolves well with a good smooth action and there is no play when the face plate is rocked. The three screw release latch works fine. The reel has the number"12" impressed in to the rear of the spool. The reel has the usual scratches and scuffs that you would expect from the years of use. I bought this box of beautiful large gut eyed salmon flies in a Perth auction(Scotland) 25 years ago. They are in generally good condition for their age. I think they are 1890-1920. I am not an expert on these flies. But there seems to be an eagle fly and 2 large lovely akroyd variations and some rare patterns. They came with a malloch envelope in the box. Here wehave a rare transitional Hardy Bros 3 inch"St George" Trout FlyReel. This is the Early 3 Screw Spool Model. Which is believed to have beenbuilt in the 1940's by Jack Johnstone, who based upon my information beganworking for Hardy Bros in 1938. Reasoning that the two screw latch was introducedin 1948, the reel was constructed sometime during this period. Also note thechange to the linear"St George" positioning on the rear platecombined with the solid nickel line guide, which I have been recently advised occurredtowards the end of WWII. Maybe a 1947 as I was advised from anotherknowledgeable collector. As you can see from pics it has been stored badly but, the check is as good as the day it was made as i have tried it with the pawls in from another reel, there is a tiny chip out of the foot but this does not affect the reels workings at all, it has the 2 screw line guide, if you wanted to use this reel it would be perfect and would last forever all that lets it down is the tatty finish easily sorted with a rub down and respray. all it needs is the pawls to make it a nice working vintage reel Check out my!

Cosmetic scratches and bumps as shown that are the battle scars of many a trout fight on rivers and lakes. The tune this reel sings is still as crisp as the day it was first used and there is absolutely no reason why this reel will not go on for a lifetime catching fish. One of the bricks of the House of Hardy range it has been a bread and butter reel for larger lakes and fish. It is now sadly time for me to part company and make way for an ever increasing shelf of reels. It is. Despite its used condition still a first class reel. Currently the reel is loaded with fairly new 6 weight Scientific Anglers floating line. The spare spool has a sinking head set up. The reel frame is in much better than average condition with no major scrapes and is as smooth as the day I bought it mechanically. Drag etc) The original spool is in excellent condition. The reel was serviced annually until I put it into the warehouse. I am the original owner of this reel which I purchased in 1982 in the UK. here is a excellent 4 inch salmon perfect made by thomas appleby reel maker at hardy alnwick. This is a rare reel i presume as he did not make perfects as a rule, the reel is in fantastic usable condition as you can see from pics, no play or wobbles, great check and lovely patina, the mark on the spool side is from a sticker and will come of but i did not remove as it might ruin the patina. it is ready for a life time of salmon fishing or to collect, they dont come much better usable wise Check out my!

here is a great 4 inch salmon reel made by jimmy smith reel maker at alnwick england. the reel is in fantastic working order with no play on spindle or any faults at all. The only thing i can see that i must point out is the tiny bit of pitting on the one part of the edge, you can see this in pics it really makes no difference to the reel at all. it has chunky black handle and ribbed brass foot. this is a sort after reel at a great price ready for the new season.i do not wish to put down any other salmon reels for sale on ebay but if you look you will see that the salmon perfects i have for sale are in far better condition compared to the others listed and far cheaper starting price.
