Fin Nor Wedding Cake #3 Fly Reel, serial #12, unique in many ways
This is an example of the very early#3 Wedding Cake with the additional tier only found on approx. the first 100 made. It is the frame that was used on the 28#4s that were produced before being discontinued. This reel is distinct in several ways. The drag plate and bearing are completely different than all of the other Wedding Cakes made. Including most of the 3 tier early#3s. The spool is machined differently with the raised contact area for the drag matching exactly the surface area of the drag plate cork. The spool face is machined differently as well, and uses a broader rounder headed draw bar. I believe these differences indicate that this was Gar Wood Jr.s original design and only exist on a very small# of the three tier reels. This is a vintage Hurricane trolling rod with rare black Tycoon Fin-Nor Miami roller guides. There are 4 Tycoon Fin-Nor roller guides total. And Tycoon Fin-Nor roller tip. The guides are in good condition with some rash inside the guides, but the rollers themselves are perfect. The Hurricane rod measures 6'6" in length. 30-50 LB test, wooden butt, stainless steel reel seat, stainless steel gimbal, cork foregrip, and nice rod wrapping. The entire rod is in very good condition with rare black Tycoon Fin-Nor Miami guides, flexcoat is nice, wrapping is good, and gimbal and reel seat are perfect. This 6/0 Fin Nor reel has been modified by narrowing the frame and spool and changing the gear ratio to 4.8: 1. It will retrieve more line per rotation than the average 6: 1. It is working fine. I fished it last winter. Lots of little nicks and scratches.

Here is a very seldom used Fin Nor 9/0 from the 1950's-1960's era when when Fin Nor reels were considered to be the Rolls Royce of big game reels. Made in Miami. Florida and used by the legends of big game fishing like Ernest Hemmingway,Michael Lerner, Kip Farington, Alfred Glassell just to name a few.These reels were the work horses that could be counted on to withstand the largest of all fish that roamed the oceans.When chances at a fish like marlin, tuna, swordfish that could reach 1,000 pounds were expected.the tackle had to be top notch. Here is a decent Fin Nor 6A(equal to a Penn 6/0 reel) that has been used. But not abused. It has the typical amount of scratches,boat rash that is common for Fin Nors that have actually been fished. Drag works as it should. Reel has new Ande 50# monofilament line.The reverse side plate with boats name and former owners name has older period( 1950's-1960's) end cap with marlin and crossed oar logo.Side plate has 6A and number 7 on rim. This is a Fin-Nor Questlite QLS3000 spinning reel. It is used and in good working condition. It reels very smoothly. Drag tightens and loosens cleanly, bail flips over the way it should, anti-reverse is good, and line out drag clicker is nice and loud. There is alot of saltwater rash on the handle and reel handle cap. There is also some saltwater rash on the bail, and the Fin-Nor decal plates are missing on both sides of the reel. I have up for auction a Vintage FIN NOR TYCOON custom built 50lb class offshore Tuna/Marlin/Shark fishing rod. This is the reel deal folks no imitations here. A very rare classic FIN-NOR TYCOON big game rod my uncle gave this to me about 25 years ago and he said he caught an 800lb tuna on it and it has been sitting on the wall in the fishing room for literally 25 years! The rod features 5 white FIN NOR TYCOON offshore big-game rollers and a top aftco aluminum roller. The front plush black fore grip measure 7.5 inches and the back aluminum grip 14’ and is in such amazing shape for its age with very little signs of wear just some green pitting around the top guide and near the rollers. For your consideration is a Fin-Nor Offshore Star Drag conventional reel in right hand retrieve. I purchased it off Ebay and then realized"I have too many reels" It is used and is loaded with 80# spectra of unknown brand though I am sure it isn't Jerry Brown Line One or Power-Pro. Line does appear to be in great shape. The reel is very smooth and free-spool is great. The drag is smooth and everything about the reel appears to be in great shape. I am an experienced long range fisherman(old! and am positive you will find this reel an excellent choice. Reel clamp and warranty card included. A very sharp Ebayer has brought to my attention that the box does not match the reel! The reel is a OGC20L while the box has a label that says OFC16L. No bids yet so no harm done I hope!

Fin Nor Golden Regal 20 fishing reel FinNor Fin-Nor
Cleaning out the garage. This is a FinNor Golden Regal loaded with Ande Tournament 20. Reel is in great shape. The plastic button to move the lever drag broke. So I had one machined out of aluminum, and it's worked great and should last forever! Check out my other auctions for more reels!
