Simon-Ro Crane Boom Truck
The Bad News first. Simon-Ro boom truck 2863 14.4 ton. 63 foot of boom. 1990 model. The extension cylinder in the boom is leaking and the gland, first picture, is damaged and will have to be replaced. A wear pad pulled out of the metal and is stuck inside of the boom. The boom can NOT be extended or retracted doing so cause the boom to bounce and could cause more damage. The gearbox for rotating(slewing) the boom has too much play. The Anti-two block is Not working. There is a dent where the boom contacts the boom rest. The crane would be good for parts such as outriggers, slewing ring, pedestal, torque box, steel bed,spool valves, pto, pump and winch are all functioning. Drove it daily never failed to perform. It is a 2000 Volvo WG64 with approximately 388.000 miles. The odometer reads 16325, when I replaced the batteries and the odometer reset itself to 0000 on 11/2/12. The engine is a Cummins M11 with 305hp and 1150 torque. This has been a damn good engine. The clutch was replaced 6/13. The air conditioner works but needs to be charged to get cold. No oil leaks on engine. Power steering leaks a little when the weather is cold.

1996 National 880C 80' boom truck crane on 1995 Ford L8000 Cummins 8.3
This listing is for a 1995 Ford LH8000 tandem axle truck with a 1995 National 880C crane mounted on it. This is the original chassis for this crane. The truck is 58.000 GVW and has a Cummins 8.3 diesel and a 9 speed transmission. The truck has 259055 miles on it. The crane and truck have 7048 hours. The crane reaches 80' hydraulically. I do not have a jib. The anti-two block has been removed and I don't have it either. It comes with a Johnson single stage block, not pictured. The truck runs great, other than regular fluid and filter changes it had the front cover replaced on it in the last 5 years like many 8.3 engines. It's fuel efficient compared to the 855 Cummins in my National 875 crane. I regularly hired my friend to operate this truck for me the past several years. It was a great crane. He let an inexperienced operator ... moreuse it one day. The man forgot to put out the outriggers and it tipped bending the very tip of the final stage. So the boom sticks out 3' farther than it should. I bought it this May hoping I could use it that way but I pulled the boom in too far and broke the retraction cables. Now it could be extended but it won't retract after that. Pat Kelly Equipment in St. Louis. MO quoted me $24,000 to install a new final stage, new cables. and rebuild the rest of the internal parts of the boom. The other stages of the boom are fine but they will rebuild the internals if they take it apart. I already have an'86 875 crane, I would like to have 5' more reach but I cannot afford to spend $24,000 to rebuild it. The flatbed is 18' long. It's almost 20 years old so there is surface rust on the truck bed. The front outrigger hose fitting has a small leak, many of the tires are new but 4 are worn on back. They still pass inspection. There is a crack/hole in the fiberglass hood. The interior gauges work and it operates fine. It has original paint except for the driver's door which was replaced.
