Up for bid is a vintage Juliette 5 Band Solid State transistor radio. It is able to pick up AM. FM, Marine, Aircraft, and Police signals. It has been tested and is in working condition. I was able to pick up AM and FM stations. I am in Pennsylvania and picked up a Canadian station on the AM setting without the antenna extended. I could not pick up any aircraft, marine, or police signals though. This unit is in need of some TLC as it is coming apart. The handle has tape on it and I'm not sure what it looks like underneath. The case was previously taped together but I removed some pieces. It will need to be repaired as well. The antenna has a slight curve to it and has also been pushed down into the case. A strong magnet will be needed to pull it out. It has also come loose from the wire. A little solder should fix it. The antenna on the radio is straight and functions as it should as does the directional antenna on top. The radio receives stations on all bands Shortwave is better at night. The last picture shows the clean battery compartment. Motorola MCX 1000 MCX1000 VHF Radio, hard case, speaker, mic, antenna, 12V cable
This is a Motorola MCX 1000 mobile radio unit that was formerly owned by the Union Pacific Railroad. It has been mounted in a Tundra-brand hard shell case and comes with the Motorola VMN-1017A microphone. Mobile magnetic antenna that measures 17.5 inches in length, speaker and power cable that plugs into a vehicle's 12 volt outlet/cigarette lighter. The hard shell case measures 18.5 inches long. 14 inches deep, and is 8 inches high. All of the components have been neatly mounted(possibly by a UP worker) in the case. The radio has been powered on, and it does appear to receive well with loud volume from the speaker. It has NOT been tested for transmission, as I am unlicensed and do not want to run afoul of the law. It has been programmed with multiple frequencies that correspond to AAR channels as well as NWS weather information.
