HYT TC-780 VHF Radio - Includes software & cable!
This radio is great for volunteer fire& EMT's as it is capable of both 2 Tone& 5 Tone paging. I don't have experience with the 5 tone systems. But I did use the 2 tone and it works good. It can decode up to 4 pair of tones per channel and can be set to vibrate. You can also customize the alert tone the radio makes when it receives a page. I also am including the programming software and cable. There are tons of programmable features on these models. But the only way to access most of them is through the software. The software is a bit on the tricky side, but it has a very robust'Help' section. I will be happy to program the first 16 channels to get you started. I've used this for 7 months. And although it's been through several structure fires and lots of MVA's, it still looks like new. It's missing ... morethe cover for the speaker/mic connector, but other than that there are absolutely no defects or problems. The only complaint I have about this unit is that it's a tad bigger and heavier than some of my other radios, but then again, my other radio doesn't have near the features and capabilities this HYT has. Hello. You are bidding on a USED-Vertex VX-4000V– VHF mobile radio. This radio will do 12.5k narrowband spacing, as well the 25k wideband.I believe the specs to be = 50 Watt, 250 channel– 148-174 mhz. This radio belonged to a local Electrical Coop that maintained power lines. These are the rugged models, used by Public Safety/ Public Utility departments. This radio is in very nice condition. It is still USED– so please expect a few scuffs/scrapes from being in service. I tested this radio on my watt meter and it shows over 50 watts forward power. The radio was reprogrammed prior to removal( not buy us) and set to 160.010( I believe that is the default channel) The radio receives on that channel nice and clear as well. That is all the testing we are able to do, as we do not have a service monitor. I am confident that this radio is working ... moreproperly, however, I make no guarantee. Here is what is included in the auction- You will receive the radio. Microphone, and 4 set screws for mounting. WE DO NOT HAVE THE MOUNTING BRACKET OR THE POWER CORD. I used to own a Taxi Company and purchased two other companies to merge in to one. This radio was operating at the time of of the merger. Buit I needed a radio with a smaller foot print. The fan of this radio was too close to the Microphone and could be heard over the air. I had an on-off switch installed on the fan, but the dispatchers found it too confusing. I purchased a GM-300 that could sit right next to the Mic without a fan running. Problem solved. If we walked away from the desk with the Mic in hand and stretched the cord all the way, the fan could not be heard. This was not an option in our situation. As you can see. I powered the unit up and it goes thru the self check procedure and stops on a programmed channel. Other than that, I cannot test the radio anymore for the lack of antenna and Mic. It is a two-band walkie talkie; the low-band is in the 40MHz military FM band. The high band is in the 225 to 399 UHF AM military aircraft band. The radio for sale here is in excellent condition. It might never have seen active duty. Everything is present and there is no damage. The telescopic antenna is perfect without any damage. The radio has 3 channels installed: 40.5MHz/243.0 MHz. 38.9 MHz/235 MHz and 40.1 MHz/241 MHz. Included is a high resolution scan of the TM11-5820-767-34 manual(in PDF format on CD) which includes the operating manual. The technical manual(including all diagrams) and other relevant information(for instance, I have included here a picture of the ... moreblock diagram showing frequency relations and how to calculate crystal frequency) This scan is NOT some copy plucked from the internet. I scanned this myself from a URC-68 paper manual in my collection. The radio takes simple HC25 plug- in crystals in the 50MHz range. Available in abundance on the used market. Only ONE crystal is needed per channel, this will give you both a VHF and UHF frequency. I found a web site with useful information about the radio: Reading the web site. It appears the radio can be adjusted at the 220MHz ham band without modifications. The AN/URC-68 radio was extensively used as a search and rescue(SAR) radio by downed military pilots. It was used in the later phases of the Vietnam War and beyond. It is fully solid-state. It also has a beacon mode where it automatically sends out an emergency tone. I have NO battery; it is not included in this auction. But you can easily make your own as it takes single 12 volts DC. I have connected it to 12 volts DC. I hear noise when I turn it on, and my 40MHz field strength indicator picks up RF when I transmit. That is as far as I could test it, as I do not have a radio capable of receiving 40 MHz. It's a power meter, signal strength meter, and frequency counter and power meter(forward, reverse, VSWR) all rolled up in one device. It needs a BB-2847 battery or suitable power source which I don't have. I haven't used this item so it is being sold as-is. No returns unless I send something other than what is in the pohotos(which I won't do) It looks pretty clean inside and out. 100% complete.
