1950's Slingerland Black Radio King 22,12 w Later 16" Floor Tom
Very rare Brass badged 1950's Black wrapped Radio King Bass drum with'58 stamped tom 22 x 14 Bass 12 x 8 Tom. Bass has the original brass badge which dates it to early 1950s and has calf skin heads with small holes. It has the old style Radio King Ts and claws for the bass hoops Tom is stamped 1958 Nickel lugs on both though the bass ones show more patina. One lug on the Tom is chrome. Sticksaver hoops on the Tom. Some snare rash on the Tom but this is otherwise in excellent condition with a very clean interior! Minty fresh wood inside. The bass drum shows its age and half the Ts and claws and hoop are original. The rest were collected and added to make the kit complete with Slingerland parts from the period. Includes extremely hard to find shell mount cymbal holder but not the cymbal L rod. I have had this radio for a few years. I bought it new, I have had to do only one thing to this radio and that is every once in a while the volume switch will collect dust and not want to operate properly. I've had it cleaned twice. Other than that I have had no other issues. I had talkback and echo put into it as well as peak and tuned and my brother thought it would be hilarious to take my radio and have a toy put in it. So it also contains a toy(a song about a pubic hair) I'm still waiting to laugh about that. A few weeks ago I took it to a radio shop and had a"free diagnostic check" he checked everything in it and said it was working perfectly. He said it was putting out"50 watts barefoot" It does have two knobs that are broken but are still on the radio until you turn them to hard. It comes with a Road King ... more56 dynamic as well as the power cord. This is a great talking and listening radio, the only reason I'm selling is because I got a great deal on a bigger one. Any questions just ask, I've tried to be as honest and upfront as I can be, that's why I wanted to take it to the cb shop and verify what I already knew. It's a great radio! Vintage 40's/50's Slingerland Radio King Drum Shells (12/16/22)
For sale are three Slingerland Radio King shells from the late 1940's or early 1950's in very good shape but in need of refinishing. This was a project that I started last summer but did not finish. The drums were painted an ugly purple sparkle in multiple layers over what appears to be the original blue duco finish. Still breaks my heart a little bit. I do not have the time. Or experience to fully strip and refinish. I went over it twice with Citristrip before I wrapped them in plastic and stored them away. I will be listing the other hardware separately, including the badge, rims, lugs, mufflers and mounts but I'll entertain offers on all of it together. Slingerland Radio King Snare Drum cloud badge WMP Entact
Slingerland Radio King 14x6 snare drum. Info is only from published sources and documented research. see sources below) This Radio King snare has the engraved top rim. An all maple steam bent single ply shell with maple reinforcement rings on top and bottom. It features Slingerland's first recessed snare bed, and simple 3 point strainer. And the engraved top nickel and steel hoop or rim. This 12 single hole lug snare was designed with the innovative recessed snare bed and simple 3 point strainer mechanism without a heavier clam shell stainer introduced later. The rim claws were fascinating to me and I learned in" Vintage Drum Guide ed. 1992" that this design was sometimes used on tom toms and even snare drums as well as bass drums. As we commonly see today. I don't know if these particular Slingerland claws were originally ... moreused on this drum as they are not matched to the bottom smaller claws. But they are indeed Slingerland parts and function perfectly. I can see them being quite useful on a 6 lug drum to stretch a calf skin head with enough force but not break the rim or rods. All the parts appear to be original Slingerland Radio King construction and design except drum heads and snare wires have been replaced. It is missing only the internal dampener leaving small three holes. Drum has been played and well cared for, but could still be a museum piece. As Slingerland often used combined parts from eras to make up shortages due to war, shortages or a poor economy each part cannot link the shell to an exact year. Best estimate is that this drum was built between 1936 and 1948 and that is authentic Radio King from these years. Note: There were no serial numbers on Slingerland drums during time so exact dating is difficult. I have not disassembled the drum as I have not wanted to disturb a single grain of metal or wood to keep it pristine for the collector or serious player. However I have examined it carefully with lights and my credentials are that of a Slingerland player since 1976 and I am curr

This auction is for a 16x16 Vintage Slingerland Radio King Tom Tom. The original owner purchased this one around 1953. It's in good shape for it's age and sounds unbelievable. This drum. As well as the rest of the set were originally purchased from Modern Drum Shop in NYC in the late 90's. They belonged to a retired Big Band Drummer in Upstate New York. They're the best sounding drums i've ever owned and used them exclusively in the studio. This 16x16 Tom is resonant, full, and thunderous. The interior is in excellent shape. The hoops and heads are not original. But i believe everything else is. I'm by no means an expert on vintage drums, but i know this the best sounding tom(along with the 13 floor tom) i've ever played. I'm also including a 16x16 protective drum carrying case/bag as well. Up for grabs is this 1960s(based on the tag. Serial no 235731) Slingerland Silver Sparkle Student Deluxe Snare Drum. It appears to be in good, used shape. Drums are not my specialty, but I did post for info on vintage drum forum, and I have been told it is a great drum in great shape. This is a 1959-60 Slingerland" Super Gene Krupa Radio King" 5.5 x 14 snare drum in a very rare original Dark Blue Sparkling Pearl. This original dark blue wrap has darkened to a dark purple. Very common for this wrap and very sought after. This of course is the famous radio king 1 piece maple shell with maple reinforcement rings/hoops. this drum appears to be all original except the heads. Something that is very rare is the clam shell strainer throw arm is original and in excellent condition. The drum has usual wear for a vintage snare drum that has been taken cared of. original wrap has light scratches wear. But nothing major. chrome nhas wear/scratches. but all has been removed and polished and shines nicely. 5& 1/2 x 14 one piece maple shell with reinforcement rings hoops. A 1956-59 Slingerland Gene Krupa Radio King Solid Steam Bent Maple Snare drum, 14"x5.5" Designed by Gene Krupa himself and was made from 1939 to 1962. It has the classic chrome over brass clamshell throw and separate strainer. Very Art Deco styling. The solid maple shell and reinforcement rings are in excellent shape. No separations and no splits. The bearing edges are in perfect shape. Heads seat very nicely. The badge dates this drum from between 1956 to 1959 and was the first Black and Brass Chicago badge. Everything on the drum is original to this drum, all tension rods, lugs, COB hoops, dual tone control and COB throw ... moreand strainer. The original snares have been replaced with appropriate PureSound snare wires and are attached by screws directly on the throw and strainer. The sound of this snare is incredible and the shell Slingerland used for this model was also used for the new Artist model that replaced it in 1963 which just happens to be the same shell that Neil Peart played on for almost 30 years with Rush. 1951 Slingerland Radio King 5.5 x14 Aqua Blue Sparkle Snare Drum
Here's a 1951-ish(first oval badge) Slingerland Radio King 5.5x14 Aqua Blue Sparkle snare drum. It's in good shape for it's age. Better than a player drum but not perfect. Overall. This is a very nice drum and sound great. A detailed description follows. The good: Finish looks good; it has that dappled look you see on all sparkles from this era. No cracks. Nickel hardware all around is functional and looks pretty good. The shell is in round. I measured lug to around the drum and found about 1/16" variance. Three-point strainer is in good working order. Most parts are original. New heads: Evans snare side and Aquarian American Vintage on top. The not-so-good but acceptable: Top hoop is a Slingerland stick chopper. But isn't embossed with the Radio King logo. One of the snare guides is a little out of whack. Holes were ... moredrilled correctly. There's some plating missing from the spine of one of the lug casings. All other casings are average to above-average for a drum this age. Three point strainer extension arm was cut down so that it doesn't extend above the hoop. It was well done. But modified. With the exception of the lug screws. All the other screws are not original(muffler, strainer, butt-plate, and snare guides) Not a major deal, but worth noting. 1953 Radio King Drums - Blue Sparkle Slingerland
This is an extraordinary pair of drums that have travelled through time together. So I hate to split them up. 1953 Slingerland Radio Kings with the classic Mahogany shells, and fantastically cool nickel hardware. The tom has 2 engraved double-flanged hoops! The top one is nickel, the bottom made of brass with chrome(this one has some mild denting) All original parts on these drums except the following; the bass drum has one Slingerland hoop from the 70's- the tom has a late 60's Slingerland muffler knob. The bass drum has all the basic attachments- 2 cymbal holders minus the clamps, and the classic early 50s leg brackets- legs not included. The bass drum has some standard spotting, and 2 extra holes where someone moved the rail for a period- doesn't affect the sound. The items show some age, so this is an as-is sale. Original 1933 King Kong RKO Radio Pictures Lobby Cards Vintage Film Memorabilia
Five original rare RKO Radio Pictures lobby cards for the 1933 movie King Kong. I would have to describe the condition as acceptable; All five cards appear to have the left edge trimmed. There are scratches and indentations to the images. One card has a couple of small tears to the edge. I can see the indentation of a handwritten"King Kong" to the bottom middle of one card. There is wear and creasing/ cracking around the edges. The backs are grubby. Postage cost includes tracking and insurance.

Vintage Slingerland Radio King snare drum 7-1/4"X14" for parts or restoration
I was going to strip this drum and sell it piece by piece but I thought someone might want to restore it. As you can see from the pictures it is in rough shape. The reinforcement rings and bearing edges need to be repaired. The 16 lugs look good but could use a good cleaning. There is only 1 rim and it is stamped Slingerland Radio King. The strainer system appears to be working well but I'm not sure if all the parts are there. The height of the shell is 7-1/4" The matching bass drum is also listed. Thanks for looking.

1950's Slingerland 5.5x14 snare drum in very cool Aqua sparkle(pics look blue but it is blue/green aqua color) Shell is a solid maple is in nice shape. Heads fit on easy and it tunes up and plays great. Clamshell strainer works as it should and has original lever too. Snare wires are replacement. Finish has some black freckles typical of this era sparkle finish. Brass hoops. Tension rods are from a 70's slingerland. No extra holes or issues. Great playing drum!
