1956 Slingerland Snare Drum .. Student Radio King or Sound King ?
I have for sale what I was told was a 1955 or a 1956. Student Radio King. I'm not a Musician, so ask if you have any questions. The finish is decent for it's age, but shows wear and tear as pictured, The handle is missing that operates the throw off. The Chrome parts have normal light pitting, but looks like it would clean up decent. The bottom head needs replaced for sure, it has a few tears, the top head is dirty, but looks intact. Update: A fellow Ebayer wrote me this( this is a student RK. Which is not a 1-ply shell. It has the 3-point strainer,the lug hooks and the bottom hoop are typical for a student model. 1950s Or 1960s Slingerland 8x12 Tom Drum WMP Radio King
Drum has no hoops or tension rods. Reso side lugs look to be 70s. Batter side look correct. Old clipper style mount with 2 extra holes from some idiot. Pre sound king hardware obviously. Original mount should cover em. Reso side has a couple minor dings. Both re rings are separating just a little. Average for these. I put a coat of paste wax inside because it was lookin a little dry. Looks beautiful now! Wrap was polished. Looks great-but a little yellow with a few stains. A player for sure. Throw some hoops on it and take it on the roAd! Vintage 1938 Slingerland Radio King snare drum
14" x 5.5" Slingerland Radio King snare drum. 1938 with the bronze coloured cloud badge. The drum has a one piece maple shell which has a signature on the inside. Don't know if they were all signed as they were assembled. The finish is white marine pearl which has yellowed nicely over the years. The snare strainer is the super clamshell type which has had the original lever replaced at some point. But I have seen these for sale on various vintage drum sites for around $30.00.The wires on the drum are Puresound but I will include the original snare wires with the sale, I also will include the original calf heads.see pics. All the hardware is brass and nickel plated. The hoops are the straight stickchopper type. Sound wise the drum is extremely sensitive to play with a thick crisp tone. Very easy to tune with no annoying overtones ... moreor buzzing. I have been told by a couple of people that this is the Gene Krupa model but I can't confirm this. Overall a fantastic drum for a collector/ player. I have owned various vintage snares over the years and this is by far the best wooden snare that I've played. I have owned it for the last 11 years and bought it from a vintage drum dealer who procured it from the original owner, I've played it just a handful of times so time to move it on(reluctantly) to fund other things. It is an 8"x 15" 3-ply Mahogany shell with Maple Re-Rings. This drum has 16"Triple Plated" Nickel/Chrome over Brass lug casings and Extra Thick"Triple Plated" Nickel/Chrome over Brass Hoops. Packing the 3-point Radio King Strainer and the Dual Pad Tone Control Muffler. Sporting the pre-serial number Black& Gold Chicago Badge. This bad boy has a wide tuning range and everything is in excellent working order. I did my best to show every square inch of the shell and hardware. The finish on the shell does have a few very minor nicks and scratches but you have to look really close with good lighting at just the right angle to see ... moreany. All the chrome is in excellent condition"No Pitting. Scuffs or Dents" and everything will shine right up with very little effort. Up to this point everything appears to be all original. Vintage Slingerland Krupa radio king Hi Hat pedal Stand
Genuine vintage Gene Krupa slingerland hi hat pedal and stand. I am not a drum expert and am selling it as-is. The pedal looks very good and the mechanism which moves the rod when the pedal is pressed works well. It seems to be missing a few small parts which hold the rod upright and hold the cymbals.

1950's Slingerland Radio King 14x5.5 Snare Drum (WMP)
You are bidding on a 1950's Slingerland Radio King 14" x 5 1/2" Snare Drum. With a 6-lug pattern. This baby was made in Chicago, Illinois over 50 years ago. Over a half century and still solid as a rock. The overlay/wrap is White Marine Pearl(WMP) I got this drum. Used, over 25 years ago. It was missing the throw-off and strainer, so I never used it. The throw-off has been replaced and any old strainer will work on it. As I said, I got it used. so I don't know any of the history. There isn't any boring, drilling, hammering or any other sort of modification that would hurt it's value. It does, however, appear to have what can only be described as nicotine staining. Good jazz drum. Strainer works fine. AIR KING model 511-110 Lt. green vacuum tube radio.This is from a fellow collector friend and he has been collecting and restoring radios for over 35 years like me. He has basically restored the whole radio with new modern electrolytic filter capacitors and replaced almost all of the other paper capacitors that could be reached with elderly hands.Those that could not be changed were checked with in circuit meter. It plays hum free.Volume/On/Off switch has been cleaned and lubricated.Original back.Standard AA5 all glass tubes tested good on my TV-7. Very clean chassis. Small repairs cone original speaker.Tunes nice with high selectivity. Original knobs and nice dial, pointer and dial cover. This cabinet was brown and had not defects so the original brown bakelite cabinet was cleaned and painted with several coats of FUSION 2 plastic paint ... morein gloss light green. The original knobs were then painted same method in off green to high light the cabinet. Then finished with clear coats of Fusion.Radio measures 9" wide x 6" high x 6.5" deep. New AC polarized power cord so chassis is not hot! Will be double boxed and packed well. Slingerland Radio King WMP Snare 6.5 x 14 - No Reserve!
Up for auction is a Slingerland Radio King snare drum made in Conway. Arkansas. The snare is 6.5" x 14" and includes a new Evans G2 coated batter head and upgraded PureSound snares. Overall this drum is in nice condition. However. The wrap has lifted slightly at the seam(see pics) and has a small patch of discoloration, also at the seam. It obviously doesn't affect the sound of the drum but may be a concern for collectors, hence the lower-than-normal price for this drum. 50's Slingerland Radio King Snare 5.5X14" Craviotto Owned (low world ship!)
This 5.5" radio king has been professionally restored and owned by Johnny Craviotto and was part of his collection in the early 1990's. This is a great example of how a solid maple shell should be. Perfectly round and the heads seat with no problem. The bearing edges are in excellent shape as well and are the Craviotto edges that create an unrivalled sound. Inside is the original sticker and phone number from his Custom shop in California. This is around the time he was making the SOLID snare drums. The original clam shell strainer was replaced with a TAMA strainer and butt leaving 4 holes to be filled. The tone control was removed and the small three holes were filled. All work was done by Johnny C himself. There are no major dings. The drum has very light signs of wear including minimal scratches or scuffs. Great condition for ... moreits age. The chrome hardware is in very good condition. I used this drum for record label recordings in the 1990s and has been in a padded case ever since. The COB hoops are original as well as the tension rods and washers to the best of my knowledge. The snare wires has been replaced. The Remo heads are relatively new. Here is a Slingerland 14" diameter X 12" long tom drum from 1951. The covering has been stripped off and sanded. The shell is African mahogany. One ply I believe but cannot be absolutely sure. The 2 1/4" retaining rings are maple. Shell is drilled for 8 lugs per side, a muffler(3 holes) and a clip mount(4) holes There is no badge or air vent hole. Shipping via UPS.

Professionally built Slingerland Radio King(replica) 4pc drumset in like new condition. Toms and bass shells are keller classic mahogany with 45 degree round over bearing edges. The bass drum hoops are 12 ply maple. The snare drum shell is 15 ply(10mm) maple with 45 degree bearing edges. Toms and bass have an oil finish(6 coats outside. 2 coats inside) while the maple snare and hoops have a satin finish. These drums feature reproduction beaver tail lugs and authentic Radio King T-rods and claws. Vent holes located using the golden ratio. Remo coated/clear ambassador heads on toms and snare. Remo PS4/Fiberskyn logo heads on bass drum. All drums come with matching protection racket cases. Sizes are as follows: 9"x13" 6 small lug tom with vibraband. Absolutely Superb Vintage 1955 Slingerland Radio King Hi-Hat Stand w/Clutch
Open to International Bidders! This No Reserve auction. Is for a vintage 1955 Slingerland model# 836"KRUPA" hi-hat stand. As you can see from my photos. This hi-hat is in superb condition, and most importantly, it performs and functions like new! This is a"direct-drive" model. Which provides instant, lightning smooth action. When I purchased this stand, the center pull rod had been cut down and modified. I was able to remove the damaged rod, and replaced it with a factory correct model. The spring tension cannot be adjusted, but fortunately, the tension spring is very strong and does not feel loose or sloppy. The overall appearance is very good. The entire stand is nicely chrome plated, and there is only the tiniest hint of surface rust on the legs. New Danmar rubber feet have been installed on each of the tripod legs. ... moreFinally, new felt washers have been installed on the Slingerland circular clutch assembly. Oddly enough. Gene Krupa did not take to the hi-hat stand bearing his name. He preferred to use the cheaper Walberg& Auge Perfection hi-hat stand. All the photographs of Gene show him using the W&A pedal. Here is a complete set of 20 Slingerland Radio King Era bass drum claws and t's and lugs with mounting screws and washers( signed large washers and lock washers) taken from a 22" 1951 WMP Slingerland bass drum with shell damage. They need a good cleaning. All lugs have scratches. Dings and plating loss.I have shined up a few and they have cleaned up well. There are a few lock washers missing but not many. Shipping via UPS.

Vintage 1960 Slingerland Gene Krupa Radio King Drum Set Sparkling Red Chicago
Available for purchase is a vintage 1960 Slingerland Gene Krupa 4 piece drum set in Sparkling Red wrapped finish. These drums are in very good condition. Especially considering they are nearly 55 years old. This set was recently purchased from its original owner, who bought them new in 1961. It was gently used in a family polka band and then carefully stored for many years. This is perhaps the cleanest original vintage kit I have ever come across. The wrap is in great shape without any fading. Peeling or cracking-just a few minor scrapes. The chrome is clean and shiny without corrosion. Bearing edges are as good as you could expect for the 1960's. Beautiful dark mahogany shells with maple reinforcement rings on the bass and toms. Solid maple shell with reinforcement rings on the snare drums. The snare also has the original"Super ... moreStrainer" aka clamshell) strainer which is fully functional. Build in mufflers on toms and snares are present and functional. Bass hoops look great with almost no pedal rash. The drums are in round, tune up wonderfully, and have a fantastic warm tone and medium decay. The single-ply solid maple snare has a crack like I haven't heard from any modern snare. No extra holes. Or missing parts. Made in Chicago. Illinois, USA this set has the 1959-1961 badges that were used right before Slingerland moved production to Niles, IL. This kit is Slingerland at it's best. All heads have been replaced within the last six months. But the original Slingerland logo bass head is included. Slingerland Radio King WMP Circa 1939 Beautiful Radio King Set 24 x 14. 13 x 9, 16 x 16 in WMP with some extras(Slingerland Bass Drum mounted Arm) Chinese Cymbal Hand Hammered, Temple Blocks and Bass Drum Mounted Cowbells. Front bass drum head Dampener. Front Calf Head with Radio King Logo. 13 x 9 This is the very rare double ended lug model. Small Tom Overall in excellent condition with no extra holes. A few blemishes on the outside wrap. Chrome is excellent. Dampeners present. Bearing edges original, not recut. Hoops in outstanding condition. 16 x 16 Floor Tom in excellent condition. Wrap original and seams tight. Chrome is excellent with a few blemishes. Floor tom brackets excellent with and threads are all very good with no threading. Dampeners are present and in excellent working order(Not loose and worn almost as new) Floor tom legs ... moreadded later as originally this floor tom was cradled. Brackets look like Slingerland as well as the legs. 22 x 14 Bass Drum in very good condition. The bass drum had originally a tom mount attached to the hoops. There was a later addition of a rail mount however I have removed this and have used some bolts to seal the holes, a rail mount could easily be re attached at a later date. The Chrome looks good and bass drum hoops have be re finished and inlay original inlay strips re laid. condition and the steel bass drum hoops are original and in very good to excellent condition. The wrap is original and generally in very good condition with the exception of some extra holes for a cymbal arm and floor tom spurs which have been plugged and repaired. Overall this kit is in great shape and looks wonderful. Combine this with a great sounding set you have the makings of a wonderful Radio King set. As an ex drum store owner. I had my pick of all the litter as drums came through the door. This was such a rad snare it just had to be included into my personal collection. Plus, I have a 70's Slingerland kit in the same finish! Had to have it. It's lack of use is why I'm selling. So here you go, Slingerland 6.5x14 Radio King. Dates back to 95-96. I think Gibson had just purchased Slingerland around then and West Coast Drums had just become a dealer again. Pretty sure this was a NAMM show display drum but I can't remember for sure. I did a recording or two way back then with it and maybe a show or two but that's about it. Sitting on shelf for years is all the action this bad boy has been doing for the past dozen years or so. Slingerland claimed that the radio king snares had shells that aged no less than ten years before ... moreit was built into a drum. If this is actually true, that would mean that this shell has aged approximately 29 years. RAD! This drum is just perfect! Nothing to disclose so do the Buy It Now and you won't regret it!
